Can one expect a good Hollywood remake from Bollywood? Well, that is like expecting Bhansali magic in a Dharma Production film. The same question should be asked from everyone watching the ‘Hindi Forrest Gump’. Something similar has happened with Aamir Khan’s latest release, Laal Singh Chaddha. All that Aamir Khan’s LSC does is make the movie ‘Mela’ look like a masterpiece. Read as we break down every nitty and gritty of the film.
Laal Singh Chaddha starts slow
Aamir Khan’s latest release Laal Singh Chaddha, an official remake of Tom Hanks’ Forrest Gump, started slow at the Box-office on August 11. Despite being released on a holiday, Laal Singh Chaddha recorded a mere 15-20 per cent occupancy and the film could garner only Rs 11 crore. And to add on to that the film saw a dip on the second day too.
Not to mention, the film landed in controversies even before its release. While many are accrediting the slow start to the boycott trends, Laal Singh Chaddha did not even need a boycott as it was all set to fall flat on its face.

Laal Singh Chaddha is unbearable
What should one do, after watching Laal Singh Chaddha? Well, one should immediately run to the chemist to get a pyrigesic, such an unbearable movie Laal Singh Chaddha is.
Aamir Khan is facing flak for showing the Indian Army in the wrong light. To add on, Khan chose a Sardar for the protagonist role, the community which has been already stereotyped by Bollywood as simpletons.
Gone are the days when terror sympathisers and apologists propelled their agenda insanely. Aamir Khan should come out his slumber and realise that one cannot depict the Indian forces in the wrong light and roam around without remorse. The same depiction has backfired. Khan not only depicted the Army in a wrong light but has also whitewashed terrorism.

Laal Singh Chaddha faces legal trouble
As stated by TFI earlier, Forrest Gump was a conservative film and showed the US Army recruiting low IQ men for the Vietnam War, referred to as McNamara Morons. While India, on the other hand, has never recruited morons in its Army. FIRs have been registered against Aamir Khan’s film for allegedly ‘disrespecting the Indian Army and hurting Hindu sentiments.’
A Delhi-based lawyer submitted a complaint to Delhi Police commissioner Sanjay Arora on Friday, alleging that the portrayal of the Indian Army in Laal Singh Chaddha has disrespected the armed forces.

The worst thing about LSC is Aamir Khan
Aamir Khan, the man often touted as a perfectionist of Bollywood, is back on the big screen after a 4 years gap with Laal Singh Chadha. Once again he has done what he is perfect at, destroying remakes.
Someone should approach Aamir Khan and convey that caricaturist acting does not make a character look naive. Rather it makes the character look stupid.
Aamir Khan’s replacement of Forrest’s developmental disability with mental disability murdered the entire purpose of the movie. To add on the stereotyping of Sikhs and South-Indians has crossed all boundaries. Maybe Aamir Khan would have looked better if fewer actors surrounded him, no comparison and no backfire, simple!
The comparison with Mela
Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha makes us compare his one disaster with another disaster delivered by him in 2000, MELA. Just like Mela, the Hindi Forrest Gump too was released amid much buzz but fell flat on its face. Aamir, who normally did light roles very well until 1999, was a tad annoying in Mela. Even after 22 years, he has kept his skill alive.
Mela released and was a box office disaster in every sense of the word. In the same manner LSC released and came out as a disaster. Just like Mela, LSC was critically panned, ridiculed, and forgotten. LSC is such a disaster that it makes Mela looks like a masterpiece.
