Vivek Agnihotri Biography and Career
Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri was born on 10th of November. He is a Hindi film director, screenwriter, and author from India. As of 2022, he is a member of India’s Central Board of Film Certification and the Indian Council for Cultural Relations’ cultural representative for Indian cinema. Agnihotri started his advertising career working for the advertising agency McCann & Ogilvy. As a creative director, he has worked on campaigns for Coca-Cola and Gillette. In 1994, he began working as a producer and director on several television series.
Bollywood movies
Vivek made his debut in Bollywood in 2005 with the movie ‘Chocolate’. It was a crime thriller. His first film did not do well at the box office. His other film called Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal was based on an Asian football team. This and another film called “Hate Story” did average at the box office.
The film that ultimately made it to the box office was Tashkent His Files, despite poor reviews from critics. It also won the “National Film Award”. The last film to dominate the box office is The Kashmir Files. The film has also entered the $200 million club and still dominates theaters.
Controversies
Agnihotri made his Bollywood debut in 2005 with Chocolate, a remake of the 1995 Hollywood neo-noir crime thriller The Usual Suspects. The film received a negative critical reception, and it performed poorly at the box office. Tanushree Dutta, a Bollywood actress, accused Agnihotri of inappropriate behavior during the filming in 2018.
During a close-up shot, he allegedly asked her to strip and dance in order to give expression cues to her male co-star Irrfan Khan, and he retreated only after Irrfan and Suniel Shetty rebuffed him. Agnihotri called the allegations “false and frivolous,” and he sued Dutta for defamation. Tanushree’s allegations were also refuted by the film’s assistant director, Satyajit Gajmer.

Agnihotri was born in Uttar Pradesh in the town of Tilhar. He earned a Certificate of Special Studies in Administration and Management from Harvard Extension School after studying at the Indian Institute of Mass Communication.
He has also mentioned Bhopal School of Social Sciences and Jawaharlal Nehru University as alma maters in media interviews.
In 1997, Agnihotri married Indian actress Pallavi Joshi, with whom he has two children. He has stated that he supports Narendra Modi but not the Bharatiya Janata Party, to which Modi belongs. Cannabis legalization is supported by Agnihotri.
Agnihotri announced in 2022 that he would undergo knee surgery after suffering a cartilage tear the previous year, which resulted in a stress fracture. He had ignored the cartilage tear for a year and a half while working on The Kashmir Files.
