The land which was under the control of the Portuguese for nearly 450 years, is now witnessing a new facet of its development. For decades, Goa has been under the influence of foreign culture and tradition. Its illegal conversion of Hindus and land acquisition issues were always rampant in its elongated history. Nevertheless, the recent move by the Pramod Sawant government has now posed a full stop to the state’s growing issues.
A stop to Hindu atrocities in Goa
Recently, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant announced that the religious conversions of Hindus stopped within just 100 days of his government assuming office. He made this statement while a program held at Panaji on “100 days of action”, where he also released a booklet based on the works performed by the “double engine government” of the BJP.
Speaking at the event, CM Sawant stated that his government took a strict stance to stop Hindu conversions which were happening earlier. In addition, he also said, “We formed SIT to look into illegal land acquisition matter.”
Apart from this, the Goa CM also launched the revamped Public Grievance Portal, SMS Intimation Service for a number of government schemes, and distributed Land Rights Sanad under the Forest Rights Act to beneficiaries during the event.

Abrahamic wave in Goa
In the past, Goa has been a land of treasure for many which resulted in acquisitions. The Arabs had the opinion that Goa is one of the best ports in Western India. Moving on these lines, the dominance of Abrahamic religions was followed in the smallest state by size in India.
During the Muslim era in the state, Muslim pilgrims from all over India embarked on the journey to Mecca from Goa. During the same time, the Muslim community evolved in Goa as a combination of conversions and intermarriages with local converts. Following this, the Portuguese landed in Goa in 1510 by defeating the Muslim king during the Portuguese conquest of Goa. Further, all the mosques were destroyed and churches were built on them.
Amid the Muslim reign in Goa, the dominance of Christians in the state was an ignored issue. Various individuals were forcefully converted to Christianity. To propagate their supremacy, the largest church in Asia was constructed in Goa to mark Christian ascendancy.
During the colonial era in Goa, an order was passed to abstain Hindus from performing their marriage rituals. Not only this, the invasion of the Portuguese led to the widespread destruction of Hindu Mandirs and other important places related to the culture. For Hindus, Mandirs were not only places of worship, they had been the centers of spiritual, historic, cultural, and educational significance as well.
Pramod Sawant bashing Hindu atrocities
Hindus had faced numerous atrocities in Goa and unfortunately, it still persists. The incessant religious conversion and land acquisitions still find their existence. However, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant’s government is now taking stringent steps to curb the atrocities on Hindus.
With the oath of Pramod Sawant, Goa has become a state of immense development in almost every sector. His government has worked incessantly in expanding the tourism sector of the state which will eventually boost the economic development of the region.
The Goa CM Pramod Sawant has been a vocal supporter of rich Hindu heritage and culture. There have been times when he highlighted the dilapidated state of Goa’s mandirs. Thus, to reclaim the lost glory of these mandirs, a budgetary provision of Rs. 20 crores was announced for the reconstruction and restoration of temples and heritage sites destroyed during the Portuguese era.
Pramod Sawant has been a Chief Minister with attention to detail in prospering the overall development of Goa. He has been recurrently working to solve issues relating to Hindu cruelty. Looking at his current developments in the state, it can be evident that Goa will soon become a land of modernity.
