Dumb Margaret Alva is proving to be the best choice for the Opposition

There is a famous saying that ‘birds of a feather flock together.’ The saying perfectly fits the opposition and it’s Vice Presidential candidate Margaret Alva. Just like the opposition, she seems to have resorted to playing the victim card. She is using all the cliché rhetoric against the ruling NDA government. For scoring political brownie points, she played to the opposition’s gallery and levelled unfounded grave allegations against the Modi government. It seems that all of this is done to lay the groundwork for her inevitable loss in the upcoming VP election.

Opposition’s favourite allegation – “Snooping”

It seems that the opposition has not come out of its own fictitious claims of “snooping”. It created ruckus on streets and in parliament on the false hearsay claims of foreign fake news peddling sites. It has time and again accused the Modi government of “tapping” opposition’s phones and spying on them. On the surface, it looks like the opposition has cropped yet another Pegasus issue. The same seems to be the case with Opposition VP candidate Margaret Alva. In an effort to please the opposition, she insinuated grave charges of ‘phone tapping’ and ‘spying’ on the Opposition leaders against the Modi government.

Joining the opposition’s bandwagon she made a tweet claiming that some “Big Brother” is always watching and listening to conversations between politicians across party lines. According to her claim this phone tapping and spying forces opposition to frequently change numbers. As per her claims such fears kill democracy.

The fear that ‘Big Brother’ is always watching & listening permeates all conversations between politicians across party lines in ‘new’ India. MPs & leaders of parties carry multiple phones, frequently change numbers & talk in hushed whispers when they meet. Fear kills democracy.

In another tweet, she posted an alleged message from telecom service provider MTNL. She claimed that she was unable to make or receive calls. She accused that calls on her mobile were being diverted when she communicated with some friends in the BJP. She went on to comment that if the service provider ‘restores’ the phone, she would not call any MP from the BJP, TMC or BJD.

Dear BSNL/ MTNL,

After speaking to some friends in the BJP today, all calls to my mobile are being diverted & I'm unable to make or receive calls. If you restore the phone. I promise not to call any MP from the BJP, TMC or BJD tonight.

❤️

Margaret

Her claims could not last long. Twitterati were quick to bust her claims on the shoulders of MTNL. They posted Delhi Police’s warning issued a week ahead of her claim. In the warning the Police had warned of cyber fraud on the pretext of KYC documentation from service provider MTNL.

Margaret Alva is losing, so it's understandable that is using cheap methods to gain Publicity by lying.

But when Delhi police had informed abt Fake MTNL post one week ago, many have explained on Alva's post too.

Then why's Media still running Congress lies, instead of Facts? pic.twitter.com/wgX0KC252U

— Ankur Singh (Modi Ka Parivar) (@iAnkurSingh) July 26, 2022

The same fact was reiterated by the telecom service provider MTNL. MTNL responded to her and categorically said that MTNL never asks for e-KYC on WhatsApp/SMS/Call etc. It added that it alerts all GSM users about such fraudulent messages.

Respected Madam,
MTNL never ask for the e-KYC on WhatsApp/SMS/Call etc. ,MTNL Alert by sending messages to all GSM customers to avoid such type of EKYC SMS/WhatsApp/Calls as it may lead to some kind of fraud , hence you are requested to ignore such E-KYC messages.

— MTNL (@MTNLOfficial) July 26, 2022

Although there doesn’t seem to be an iota of truth in her snooping charge. Yet, the service provider took necessary action in connection to a complaint filed by Margaret Alva. BSNL filed an FIR in the said matter. This will put all those scamsters behind bars who in the name of Know your Customer (KYC) dupe innocent citizens.

I thank the Chairman of MTNL/ BSNL for action on my complaint. My phone services have now been restored. I’m glad that a FIR has been registered by the authorities. https://t.co/PBjS7px9AH

— Margaret Alva (@alva_margaret) July 26, 2022

BJP too hit back at this obnoxious claim by the Opposition VP candidate. Union Minister Prahlad Joshi termed the allegation as childish. The Minister rejected her claim and said that why should anybody tap her phone. He emphasised that they are confident of their win in the VP election.

Why should anybody tap her phone? Let her call anybody, we're confident about what the result of the VP election will be. Why should we do this? These are childish allegations. She's a senior person & she should not make such allegations: Union min Pralhad Joshi on Margaret Alva pic.twitter.com/a7MXDdmgZG

— ANI (@ANI) July 26, 2022

Desperation of the Opposition seems to have hit the roof

The result of the recently concluded President election has made the opposition jittery. This claim of snooping also hints that they are losing their nerves and paving grounds of excuses for their inevitable loss. The President election has clearly vindicated the fact that opposition is a divided house. They don’t have the requisite number to even give a decent fight. This seems to have rattled them so much that it is making Goff ups one after the other. It is a fact that legislatures of state assemblies don’t constitute the electoral College for VP election. Yet, the opposition candidate Margaret Alva dialing state CM’s number speaks volume about their poll strategy. On the surface of it, they seem to be living in some lala-land and are making mockery of the electoral system.

The statements of opposition VP Candidate Margaret Alva match the tunes of the opposition. Criteria like tip towing baseless issues of opposition, seems to have been the defining points in her selection by the combined opposition. It clearly hints that both are a perfect match to each other.
