Only a minuscule percentage of people in India can claim that they do not know the Hindi language. Even then, its legitimacy looms under controversy. The orthodox belief of British imposed ‘casteism’ has engrained “Hindi” in its strata. Gradually, the deep-seated hate of the people is coming out and creating a new low in the society.
Is Hindi speaking equal to becoming a “Shudra”?
A senior DMK MP, TKS Elangovan has invoked a new controversy waging the language war. He claimed that Hindi is a language of underdeveloped states. Elangovan also made hateful remarks citing that speaking Hindi will make us Shudras.
TKS Elangovan said, “Hindi is the native tongue in only underdeveloped states like Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan. Look at West Bengal, Odisha, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Punjab. Aren’t all these developed states? Hindi is not the mother tongue of the people of these states. Hindi will convert us to Shudras. Hindi will be no good for us.”
“Shudra”, is a term that is used to describe the lower strata of the caste hierarchy.
Elangovan termed Hindi-speaking states as underdeveloped. Questioning the importance of learning Hindi, he remarked, “Why I am asking is Hindi is not the mother tongue of people in these States. The undeveloped States are (the Hindi-speaking) Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, and the newly created ones (apparently Uttarakhand). Why should I learn Hindi?”
Elangovan claimed the people speaking Hindi will become slaves. Accusing Hindi lovers of destroying the culture, he added, “They are trying to destroy the culture and trying to impose Manu Dharma through Hindi. This should not be allowed. If we did, we will be slaves, Shudras.”
The opposition bashed the DMK
Soon in the aftermath of this controversy, Tamil Nadu BJP spokesperson Narayanan Thirupathy bashed the DMK MP. He said that they are trying to create a North-South divide in the country by reviving the language debate.
Narayanan Thirupathy remarked, “He (Elangovan) said that Hindi is for people from underdeveloped states. This is wrong. Every 10-15 days they are talking about language and want to create a North-South divide.”

It’s not the first time that the DMK government is raging fire on the Hindi language. It had earlier tried to encircle the central government on the imposition of the Hindi language for official communication.
It has become evident that the DMK government is not able to stand for its own moral principles. M.K.Stalin who himself is an atheist finds it painful to prove that his government is neither anti-religion nor anti-spiritual. But one thing is sure his government is anti-Hindu.
