As they say, Old habits die hard. Congress can never shun its Muslim appeasement politics. For this, it shamefully made outrageous claims and questioned the existence of Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram in the Court. Its leader in Courts counselled against the Ram Mandir and left no stone unturned to hurt the sentiments of the Hindu community. It has resorted to appeasement politics yet again and taken a contrary stand to the mainstream demands of the Hindu community.
Congress starts signature Campaign for Namaz at Charminar
When the Hindu community is finally waking up and demanding to reclaim their important holy shrines back from the symbols of Mughal tyranny, Congress leaders are piping different tunes. The Telangana Congress Secretary Rashed Khan has started a signature campaign to allow praying inside the Charminar complex which is a site protected by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). He made an outrageous demand that if they are not allowed to pray, the ASI should shut down the Bhagya Lakshmi Temple near the Charminar. He also warned that if they are not allowed to pray, they will stage a sit-in protest.

Rashed Khan said, “I will take all the signatures and go to the secular CM of Telangana. If our requests are not addressed, we will do a sit-in protest at the Pragati Bhavan. Wrong promises are being made across the country on mosques”. The Congress leader also made bizarre and outrageous claims against the Bhagya Lakshi Mandir. Rashed Khan alleged that the Mandir is “unauthorised encroached illegal construction” and claimed this to be a citing from an ASI report.

Maulana Ali Quadri told ANI that earlier Muslims offered prayers in the Charminar but it was stopped two decades back. He said, “Earlier in the Charminar, people used to hold prayer but since a person died by suicide at the Charminar site, it was stopped.”

BJP vehemently opposed this demand and blamed the Congress party for raking communal issues to gain political ground. BJP MLA added that connecting two issues (temple and mosque near Charminar) is an attempt to “provoke communal tension” which is an offence and the government should arrest him. He alleged,” The state government should step in to maintain law and order and arrest him for creating communal trouble in the city. Both TRS and Congress try to provoke religious sentiments of minorities for their benefits.”
Muslim Tag on Congress Party
The Congress party has known its Pro-Muslim image among the voters since 2014 when former Defense Minister AK Antony had submitted a report on why Congress was routed in the general election. During the Gujarat Election in 2018, the then party President Rahul Gandhi had started a soft-Hindutva makeover by running temples from pillar to post. But as they say, you can’t continue anything if you are not 100% in it with heart and soul, this political opportunism shredded away and Iftar parties were the places to be at ease with.

The party has earned this widespread moniker as a Muslim party. It has done alliances with Muslim-communal parties like the Indian Secular Front (ISF), a party of Peerzada Abbas Siddiqui, or All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) of Badruddin Ajmal or Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) in Kerala.

The grand old party has again exposed its appeasement politics with this recent demand by the Congress Telangana Secretary to ask for permission in a secular ASI protected site and call for shutting down a sacred mandir of Hindus. That too, as revenge for denying the Muslims these frivolous demands of Namaz in the Charminar complex. It seems Congress has learned nothing from all the disgrace and defeats and has no shame left in behaving akin to a fringe Muslim party.
