Saloni Aswani is a Telugu and Kannada actress and model who has appeared in several films. Saloni began modeling after completing her education, appearing in a number of television commercials. Early career
Her first advertisements were for Vaseline, Lifebuoy, Parachute Oil, Moove, Chic shampoo, Three Roses tea, Meera soaps, and other brands.
Saloni Aswani first made her screen debut in regional language films, particularly Tamil and Telugu.
She moved on to pursue a career in acting, making her debut in the Hindi film Dil Pardesi Ho Gayaa (2003). She then acted in a number of Telugu films, none of which were commercially successful. Her performances in Buddhivantha and S. S. Rajamouli’s Maryada Ramanna (2010) garnered her attention, leading to opportunities in more prominent Telugu movies.
Later career
In between, she did a few roles in films. Saloni starred alongside Venkatesh and Trisha Krishnan in the film Bodyguard in 2012. She then starred alongside Balakrishna in Adhinayakudu and in the Kannada films Lakshmi and Benki Birugali. Saloni Aswani was born as Vandana into a Sindhi-speaking family in Ulhasnagar, Maharashtra. Her father worked as a narcotics assistant commissioner. When she was about five years old, her family relocated to CGS quarters in Wadala, Mumbai.
Her mother encouraged her to pursue acting, while her father urged her to “get a respectable profession.” She made a portfolio and sent it to modeling agencies without her father’s knowledge.
She had constantly engaged in dramas during her academic career, particularly imitating Sridevi. She also performed with the Kala Sansad theatre troupe and studied acting at Ashok Kumar’s Academy of Dramatic Arts, which is administered by his daughter, Preeti Ganguly.
Saloni Aswani graduated from the Shreemati Nathibai Damodar Thackersey Women’s University (SNDT) at New Marine Lines in Mumbai after finishing high school.
