West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is suffering from success. After winning the assembly elections, back in May, she has now rechristened herself as ‘King George V’ and is holding Durbar’s across the country to further assert herself. On Wednesday, Mamata held the ‘Mumbai Durbar’ on her Maharashtra trip and gathered a bunch of pseudo-intellectuals and Social Justice Warriors.
The meeting was attended by the likes of Swara Bhasker, Munawar Faruqui, Shobha De, Javed Akhtar, and Shatrughan Sinha amongst others. While they all came from different career streams, the only similarity that joined them was their unemployment and hatred for the current establishment.

Mamata, who has left no opportunity to show her pouring love for the current dispensation gave them the ideal platform and heard them intently.
A show of gathering that turned into a soap opera
While the idea behind the gathering was to project a show of strength in the country’s biggest state, GDP-wise – Mamata and her brainiac strategist Prashant Kishor failed big time. The event showed that even Prashant Kishor’s genius had limitations.

The entire event was reduced to a sob fest with the likes of Swara Bhasker practically begging for an employment opportunity, after being rendered unemployable due to her brain fading antics. It didn’t help the cause either that Mamata made an absolute hash of the national anthem while trying to sing it.
The national anthem fiasco
Akin to the disaster that was the meeting, Mamata abruptly started singing the national anthem while sitting on her chair. After singing the first couple of lines, Mamata had an epiphany and she rose from her seat.
However, in a rather puzzling manner, she left the anthem in middle, chanted Jai Maharashtra, Jai Hind, and sat back, with a smug on her face, as if she had done complete justice to the anthem.
On the contrary, the great Rabindranath Tagore must have been turning in his grave at the sight of his melodious composition being butchered by a native of his state.
Complaint filed against Mamata
To compound Mamata’s misery, according to ANI, Advocate Vivekanand Gupta, Secretary, Mumbai BJP filed a Police Complaint against Banerjee for “showing utter disrespect to the national anthem”.

He tweeted, “My Police complaint to @CPMumbaiPolice to register FIR against #MamataBanerjee for showing utter disrespect to National Anthem. It’s an offence under the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971 and @HMOIndia order of 2015.”

Amit Malviya, In-charge of BJP’s National Information & Technology Dept, said in a tweet, “Our national anthem is one of the most powerful manifestation of our national identity. The least people holding public office can do is not demean it. Here is a mutilated version of our national anthem sung by Bengal CM. Is India’s opposition so bereft of pride and patriotism?”
Mamata has been projecting herself as the next alternative who is set to take the place of Congress as the principal opposition. However, just the way Prashant Kishor systematically dismantled Congress, he is doing the same with Mamata by making her attend such illogical and worthless events.
