11 crore missed their first dose
India’s health ministry has made shocking revelations with regards to the vaccination status of the population. According to the health ministry’s data, more than 11 crore Indians simply did not turn up to receive the second dose of their covid vaccination. The data crunching further reveals that 3.92 crores of them are overdue by more than six weeks, while nearly 1.57 crore are late by four to six weeks and more than 1.50 crore are late by two to four weeks. 3.38 crore have missed their second dose by up to two weeks.
Out of 28 states, just five states namely Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, and Bihar comprise more than 49 per cent of those who missed their inoculation. The issue was discussed in a meeting chaired by Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya. The health ministry has written to several states and Union Territories nudging them to give priority to those who have not got themselves jabbed with the second shot even after the expiry of the prescribed interval.
Additionally, the union health ministry has announced “Har Ghar Dastak (door-to-door campaign)” to boost vaccination numbers. Talking to ANI, health minister Mansukh Mandviya said– “We are going to launch the vaccination campaign: “Har Ghar Dastak”. We decided that for the next one month, healthcare workers will go from door to door to vaccinate people eligible for the second dose, and also those who have not taken the first dose,”.
48 districts have less than 50 per cent success rate in the first dose
Meanwhile, in 48 districts in India, more than half of the population have shown no urgency in inoculating themselves with even the first dose of the vaccines. About 57 per cent of these districts are in the northeast, while Jharkhand and Uddhav Thackeray ruled Maharashtra are other major states facing the problem. Prime minister Narendra Modi has himself taken cognisance of the situation and is going to conduct a meeting with the district magistrate of all 40 districts, immediately after his return from the COP26 conference in Glasgow, Scotland.

India’s vaccination campaign has been an astonishment for people all around the world. In spite of numerous attempts by the left-wing intelligentsia to derail the vaccination drive, India has been able to vaccinate more than 76 per cent of the population with the first dose of the vaccine, while more than 32 per cent have been fully inoculated with both doses. Moreover, India is donating its vaccines to other countries as well thereby enhancing its soft-power status by many-fold.

India’s own civilizational value puts the onus on the individual to first fulfill their social responsibility and then strive towards rights. However, in order to keep the space open for anarchist behavior by an individual, left intellectuals did not put an obligation on responsibilities. It’s high time our system should start enforcing rights, otherwise, mishappenings like missing vaccination will keep derailing India’s accelerating development.
