In yet another case of political partisanship, Indian left-liberal media has again shown how it is blatantly murdering journalistic ideals. Two openly aghast incidents of rape and murder have been buried by media – the same media which is supposed to work for the people.
400 men gang-raped a minor in Maharashtra:
In Uddhav Thackeray’s Maharashtra, a minor girl was allegedly raped by 400 people for about six months. According to a report by News18 Lokmat, the incident took place at Ambajogai in Beed district. The minor girl, who is 16-year-old, is reported to have been facing mistreatment at her husband’s house, where she was allegedly subject to domestic violence.
She decided to ditch her home and stay at her father’s home. But, her father later refused to take her back. So, the poor and helpless child was staying at the Ambajogai bus stand. It was here that more than 400 men took her advantage and serially raped her. One of the rapists is also said to be a police officer. The incident came to light only after child rights activists talked to her and took up her case before the child welfare committee. She is said to be two months pregnant. An FIR has been lodged and 3 people have been arrested in the matter.

Talibanis masquerading as political workers in Kerala?
In yet another Taliban style murder in communist Kerala, an RSS activist has been hacked to death on the road, in what seems to be a clear cut case of political murder. According to police, a 27-year-old Sanjith, an RSS Mandal Boudhik Pramukh, was travelling on his bike with his wife Harshitha and a child. Suddenly a car rammed into his bike, forcing the family to fall off from the bike.
As the family was trying to recover, suddenly a gang of four people allegedly from the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), the political arm of the Popular Front of India (PFI), came out of a car and started stabbing Sanjith in front of his family. Within a few wounds, Sanjith was unconscious and the road became red with his blood. A local resident Ramu is reported to have died watching the bloodbath.
Sanjith was travelling to Palakkad – his home city, with his family. Palakkad SP seemed to agree that the murder could be an incident of political murder.
State BJP chief K Surendran said that SDPI was behind the killing. Alleging the state government of supporting the murderers, he said, “SDPI is killing political rivals without provocation. These criminals have the backing of the ruling CPI(M) and their police. If the government cannot control the SDPI, BJP will be forced to marshal people for retaliation,”.

Impartial treatment by the national media:
These two barbaric incidents happened in Maharashtra and Kerala, respectively. In Kerala, ultra-left CPI(M) rules the roster, while in Maharashtra, Lutyens’ media supported Congress party runs the show.
The reporting of these two incidents by national media has clearly shown how media is favourable to a particular political ideology. Reporting the Kerala murder, the Times of India did differential coverage of the news. In its Kerala edition, it clearly said that Sanjith was murdered, while in its Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra edition, it simple mentioned that Sanjith was killed in the road accident. Moreover, we could not find NDTV’s coverage of the matter.

Similarly, if you try to find NDTV’s coverage of the brutal gang rape in Maharashtra on Google, you will be disappointed. Various left-wing portals like The Wire have not even written a simple reporting piece on the barbaric incident that happened in Uddhav Thackeray’s Maharashtra.
The differential treatment of sensitive issues like rape and murder by the media is not good for the people of this country. Indirectly, the media is conveying a dangerous message to criminals and bad elements of the society that if you are aligned with right and favorable kind of politics, you can get away with anything. This kind of partisanship promotes a toxic form of tribalism in the country, and is a huge threat to civil values. These things need to be stopped, and problems faced by the general populace of the country should be impartially reported.
