‘Down down Mauka Mauka,’ Tamil Nadu-based company openly celebrates Pakistan’s Cricket team

At a time when the whole nation was mourning India’s 10-wicket loss to arch-rival Pakistan, some closet Pakistan supporters were busy cheering for Pakistan’s cricket team. While individuals supporting Pakistan is not new, this time, a Tamil Nadu based company has openly cheered for the Imran Khan-ruled nation.

Medical company celebrated Pakistan’s victory:

A Chennai-based company MEDLOCQR decided to jump in on the ongoing woke wave sweeping the advertising industry. Without caring for India’s national interests, the company congratulated Pakistan, while calling them ‘brothers’. While Indians would be tolerant enough to allow someone to cheer for rivals, the tone and tenor of advertisement was good enough to signal something fishy.

The advertisement put on their Facebook and Instagram handles by the company read – “When we play along with family, we are happy when we win and Happier when we lose. Congratulations brother Pakistan. Down Down ‘Mauka Mauka’ Star Sports”. Along with the above caption, a photo of a happy Pakistani cricket team is attached with the post.

‘Mauka Mauka’ is an ad campaign run by Star Sports, that showcases Pakistani fans’ failed attempt to cheer for their team after their dreams of beating India in ICC tournaments are constantly shattered.

Netizens slam the company:

As soon as the advertisement went viral on social media, alarmed and awakened Indians were quick enough to expose the company. Shashank Shekhar Jha, a renowned Supreme Court advocate, criticised the company for earning money from Indian consumers while cheering for the neighbouring terrorist nation. He also tagged the Chennai Police on Twitter, and asked them to look into the matter.

Surprised and shocked to see that an Indian company based in Tamilnadu is openly supporting Pakistan.

Co-founder of Armourcare, Major Madhan Kumar sarcastically appreciated the patriotism of the Chennai-based company, but quickly pointed out that their patriotism was for Pakistan.

#Patriotism at a different level by a #Chennai based company #MEDLOCQR but unfortunately for a wrong country.
What sort of non sense is???

Another user Roshan Prakash compared the celebration with a thankless child who eats in own house and then goes on to call the neighbour as the father.

@medlocqr looks like having food in own house and calling neighbourhood uncle as father.. #MEDLOCQR shits

— Roshan Prakash (@roshanprakashtv) October 28, 2021

Another user Mohit Kumar Thakur appealed to Indians to downgrade the app of the company on the Google Play Store.

भाई साहेब ये #medlocqr कम्पनी ये कह रही है की Google play store पर ज़ाकर रेटिंग गिरा दो ।

क्या आप लोग साथ देने 👇👇 pic.twitter.com/dybmAf267e

Advertisement withdrawn by the company:

Facing outrage from nation-loving voices inside the country, the company decided to remove the advertisement from both Facebook, as well as Instagram. The official reason behind the posting of inappropriate ads by the company was that the ad was posted by their marketing team. However, people were quick to point out that the marketing department of the company is also a part of the company, and that the onus stands on the company. A Twitter user Dev Banerjee asked the company about the action taken on their marketing team. Another user Sharath wrote, “What action has been taken against the marketing team ?? Don’t play the “unintentional ” card now !! Is there anyone in India who doesn’t know who is killing our army men in Kashmir”.

What action has been taken against the marketing team ?? Dont play the "unintentional " card now !! Is there anyone in India who doesnt know who are killing our army men in Kashmir ? #disgusting #medlocqr

— SPS (@Sharath11625148) October 27, 2021

@medlocqr as a responsible organization that you claim to be.. what action have you taken? #MEDLOCQR #JusticeMatters #BeAnAwakeCitizen

Pakistan and its closet supporters in India:

As reported by the TFI, after Virat Kohli-led the Indian team suffered a humiliating 10-wicket loss from underdogs Pakistan, a series of controversies erupted in India. In Rajasthan, a Muslim female teacher was fired and later arrested after she celebrated Pakistan’s victory over India. Similarly, in Punjab, various UP and Bihari students allegedly thrashed Kashmiri students for celebrating Pakistan’s victory. Meanwhile, the leader of the fake farmers’ protest, Rakesh Tikait, accused the Narendra Modi government of nudging Virat Kohli’s team to lose the match against Pakistan. Various videos from different parts of India emerged where pro-Pakistanis were seen celebrating India’s loss.

Meanwhile, Pakistani coach Waqar Yunus pushed cricket jihad with the expression of his happiness over the fact that Muhammad Rizwan, a Pakistani Muslim player, was offering namaz in front of Hindus (Indian cricketers). He was later criticised by the cricket fraternity and was also forced to apologise for his comment. Similarly, various Pakistani handles created controversy, when they ran a series of social media posts and comments abusing Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami for his poor performance against Pakistan. The propaganda was spread so much by pro-Pakistan celebrities in India, that star cricketers had to come out in defence of Shami.

Advertising and slowly developing Indophobia:

Advertising these days has become a tool to malign the nation-loving and culture-loving forces in the country. Earlier, the advertisements were going only after Hindu culture and traditions followed by more than a billion people, to sell their products. However, the type of pro-Pakistani propaganda that MEDLOCQR has tried to peddle could set up a new trend, if gone unchecked.

India is entering into a new phase of booming economic growth, which will continue at least for the next 3 decades. The foreign companies investing in India will be integral to this growth. Businesses are mostly amoralistic in nature, that is, if their product is sold by harming the morality of a society, they will do it effortlessly. Similarly, if the society refuses to let them dictate, they will fall in line. Making India a booming economy should never be at the cost of harming nationalistic sentiments, by the companies.
