Bluetooth Chappal- A new concept
Officials handling the administration of Rajasthan Eligibility Examination for Teachers in Ajmer, Rajasthan were shell-shocked when they found a candidate wearing a chappal armed with a phone and Bluetooth. The candidate had fit in a virtually-undetectable device in his ear, which was used by him to take instructions from his friends outside the hall. Fishing a big plot, the Rajasthan administration came into action and launched more search operations in other districts. A total of 5 such candidates were found in Bikaner, Ajmer, and Sikar. If you’re planning to get one too, forget about it. Not only will you get in trouble if you use it in a government exam, but the market value of each Bluetooth Chappal is estimated to be around Rs 2, 00, 000, while candidates are said to have paid around Rs 6, 00, 000 for it.
Briefing the media about the scam, Ajmer police officer Jagdish Chandra Sharma said-“We found one man with devices in his slippers to help him cheat. We caught him at the beginning of the exam. We are finding out where all he has links and who all are involved. We immediately alerted other districts as well. In the next phase of the exam, nobody can go in with slippers, shoes, or socks into the exam center,”.
Rajasthan government is conducting a test for hiring 31,000 teachers for its government schools. A total of 16, 00, 000 students appeared for the post. The exam holds a lot of significance in Rajasthan, and the government had halted internet and SMS services for 12 hours in many districts so that candidates do not engage in discrepancies.
Scientific and innovative minds getting misdirected
The Bluetooth chappal is being termed as one of the most innovative methods to cheat in the examination. But, it really reflects on the sad state of affairs about people’s obsession with government jobs. The strings that these people have pulled; just to get a government job are simply ridiculous. The person who invented this kind of Chappal is brilliant and innovative in nature. If he were given proper encouragement and direction, his brain could churn out a lot of industry-usable intellectual property. The sad part is that his talent has just been wasted on the preparation to acquire government jobs, and if that does not work, then to outright cheat.
Government jobs preparation snatching away the prime years of Youth
People have been burning their midnight oils while mugging up the syllabus of government job examinations. The time and the effort they put in their prime years always has a very less probability of yielding the result, as government jobs comprise only 3.75 percent of total jobs in the country. Even if some people are able to get the job, they tend to slip into the comfort zone due to the banal and restrictive nature of the job.
At the time when the Modi government is promoting innovation and asking people to create jobs, rather than being a job-seeker, a vast population is still unable to look beyond the government jobs. This obsession is, ultimately, leading to cheating, fraud, bribery, and many other wrongful practices.
We need industry, not bureaucracy
The truth is that 21st century India needs innovators, entrepreneurs who can help in designing a product, building a company, and creating wealth as well as job opportunities. While there is discontent among common people about government servants slowing down the process by creating bureaucratic hurdles, innovators and entrepreneurs have a knack for bypassing the outdated system because of their innovative and ‘jugaadu’ minds.
Modi’s idea of minimum government, maximum governance can only be fulfilled by minimising government servants and maximising job creators in the country.
