On Thursday, a violent clash broke out, when a team of police officials went to the Gorukhuti area of Darrang in Assam to evict illegal encroachers from a land belonging to a state farming project. The illegal Muslim Bangladeshi encroachers attacked the Police party as a result 9 policeman were injured.

Although leftist tried to create a fake narrative by making it a religious issue and by attacking PM Modi and CM Himanta, Assam’s eviction mission for the plight of its indigenous people will go on.

Illegal Bangladeshi Immigrants Attacks Assam Police

A video shared by journalist Abhijit Majumder went viral on social media which showed how an unruly mob of illegal immigrants approached, intimidated and attacked the police with lathis and bricks. 100s of them gathered in fields and began throwing sticks, stones and bricks at the police. The cops were helpless; the only way to stop the mob’s incoming attacks was using their hand-held shields.

4,500 bighas of land was occupied around 800 families in Assam’s Darrang district. The land was eventually cleared  as part of the Himanta government’s drive against “illegal encroachments”. CM Himanta Biswa Sarma also claimed that four religious structures and one private institution were also demolished in the process.  He further added that he had ordered a judicial inquiry into the incident. “I condemn the episode. It was unfortunate. We will take strict action if any violation is found in the inquiry,” he added.

Netizens took to twitter over this horrific incident of brutality by illegal immigrants against the police force, as videos were widely circulated condemning the incident. many netizens demanded strict actions to be taken against the same.

Journalist Abhijit Majumber tweeted; “This is the murderous mob of infiltrators and encroachers that the #Assam police had to deal with. This is why India needs a nationwide, watertight NRC. Nice job, @himantabiswa”

Senior editor of TFI media- Shubhangi Sharma tweeted; “The incident in Assam will be used to push the ‘Muslims under attack’ line as long as PM Modi is in the US. But it should not derail the process started by Assam and its people to protect their lands and their security from illegal immigrants who broke in and occupied.”

Assamese Activist, Oxomiya Jiyori tweeted; “High tension in Gorukhuti area of Darrang, as Muslim Bangladeshi encroachers attack Police party and seriously injured 11 Police officers who was there to evict encroachers. In retaliation @assampolice, opened defensive fire and neutralised two attackers.”

The Darrang SP clarified that the police reacted in self-defence and claimed that the attack was not just ‘tactical’ but a ‘planned resistance.’

BJP’s Poll Promise to the People of Assam

Freeing government lands from ‘encroachers’, and allotting them back to ‘indigenous landless people’ was one of the  poll promises by the BJP, to the people of Assam during the May. As per its election manifesto, The BJP government is all set to implement the ‘Garukhuti project’ in the area of previously encroached lands, which would be used for afforestation and agriculture.

Sources in the Assam government reveal that Dholpur is an area with around 25000 acres of land along with a 5000 years old temple of Bhagwan Shiva, and a cave. The area had been facing encroachment, as more and more people were beginning to settle there, outnumbering the locals in the area. This further increased crime in the area which included robbery and dacoity, which the locals blame the encroachers for the same.

120 bigha land of the temple under encroachment of illegal occupants in the area have been freed by @assampolice and district administration. Such squatters would be evicted from all parts of Assam to protect our land and the Assamese identity from encroachers & intruders. 2/3 pic.twitter.com/ysAmxe5DLO

— Himanta Biswa Sarma (Modi Ka Parivar) (@himantabiswa) June 7, 2021

The Assam government has taken the eviction initiative after discussions with local Muslims in the area. They were even promised an alternate area to settle as per the land policy, which they had mutually agreed upon. The eviction process in the last two days was peaceful, but on Thursday a mob of thousand people attacked the police and in retaliation police was forced to take actions against the same.

It is indeed shameful that Assam government’s initiative for the plight of the indigenous Assamese people has been turned into a religious issue by the so called liberals and leftists. Himanta has taken a bold step towards illegal Muslim immigrants’ encroachment on the lands of the native indigenous people, which has been an underlying issue in Assam since decades. Two tall leaders of the nation, PM Modi and CM Himanta had received constant backlash for working towards the same, and they still are constantly targeted. However, this won’t stop the Assam government’s eviction mission against illegal encroachment and false narratives should rather be ignored.
