Government bringing strict law against ‘forced inter-religious marriages’, warns Yogi Adityanath. “Allahabad HC said religious conversion isn’t necessary for marriage. Govt will also work to curb ‘Love-Jihad’, we’ll make a law. I warn those who conceal identity and play with our sisters’ respect, if you don’t mend your ways your ‘Ram naam satya’ journey will begin,” Yogi said, as extensively reported by Hindustan Times.
The CM promised to bring a strict law to check the “menace of love jihad”. By love jihad, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its ideological affiliates allege a ploy by extremists of a minority community to lure Hindu girls with the intent of changing their faith.
CM Yogi Adityanath stated that the law against ‘Love Jihad’ was passed in the state way before the polls and highlighted that the law had never been misused by the government. In an exclusive interview with Republic Media Network’s Arnab Goswami after BJP swept the Zilla Panchayat polls, UP CM Yogi Adityanath said that matter of forced conversions was not just against one religion but was a matter of national security.
UP CM Yogi Adityanath stated that the perpetrators used deaf and dumb children to gain entry into houses following which they converted the entire family. The UP CM went on to claim that the deaf and dumb children received training via WhatsApp messages and noted that such messages could only be deciphered by special cyber experts. Making an explosive claim, CM Yogi Adityanath said that these deaf and dumb children were used for attacking important centres, religious places, VVIPs, as a part of a suicide squad and claimed that this conspiracy had been busted by the state’s law enforcement agencies, as reported by Zee news.
The conversion racket was busted by the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) after the registration of an FIR in the case at Lucknow’s ATS police station. As per reports, two men of Delhi’s Jamia Nagar were allegedly running an outfit involved in converting deaf and dumb students and other poor people to Islam in Uttar Pradesh with funding from Pakistan’s ISI. In fact, children and women were given false promises of cash, job and marriage in lieu of conversion.
Gautam, who is one of the two accused arrested in the beginning, and himself a convert to Islam from Hinduism, claimed to have converted around 1,000 people to Islam. Extensively reported by the TFI, Umar Gautam confessed, “I converted at least 1,000 non-Muslims to Islam, marrying them all to Muslims.” He also confessed to having converted over 1,500 children at school for the deaf and mute in Noida on the pretext of employment and money.
“Taking a serious note of such incidents [of forceful conversion and cruelty], the CM has directed that a concrete strategy be made to control such incidents. It has often been seen that this is being done in an organised manner. If required, an ordinance can be brought for it,” an official was reported by Hindustan Times.
