TMC MP Nusrat Jahan on Wednesday termed her marriage with husband Nikhil Jain ‘invalid’, thereby bringing an end to her and Prashant Kishor’s charade of a true Indian secular marriage that helped TMC gain massive political mileage in West Bengal. However, a day after Jahan’s announcement, her husband has broken the silence and released a letter in which he has retaliated and accused Nusrat of using him to repay her massive home loans.

Nikhil remarked that his family and he went out of their way to help Nusrat settle her loan, not knowing they will have to face such a day. He said that she still owes considerable amounts of money for this arrangement.

“After marriage, to get her released from the heavy interest burden for a home loan, I had the same liquidated by transferring money from my family accounts to her account. Any money transfer made by her from her account to my family account was repayments of the loan,” said Nikhil whilst adding, “The allegations made by her are all baseless and derogatory and devoid of truth. One need not find or create proof, the proof is always there, my bank statements and credit card statements are proof enough. My family has only given with both arms to her in the capacity of a daughter, not knowing, we would see this day.”

The allegations Nikhil was referring to was the statement made by Nusrat Jahan where she took a snide dig at her husband and claimed that she was bearing all the expense on her own.

“The one who claims to be “rich” and “been used by me” has been taking money from my account by accessing my bank accounts illegally and by illegitimate means at odd-hours of the night, even post-separation. I have already taken this up with the concerned Banking Authority and a Police Complaint shall be filed shortly,” Nusrat had said in her statement.

Giving his side of the story, Nikhil mentioned that in November last year, Nusrat packed her luggage and moved out of the flat and shifted to her Ballygunge flat. Since then, they have not been together as news of Nusrat’s pregnancy continue to emerge.

“On November 5, 2020, she left my flat with bag and baggage along with her personal values, papers and documents and shifted to her Ballygunge flat and thereafter we never stayed together after being husband-and-wife. The rest of her personal belongings along with the documents (IT returns etc) were also sent to her shortly after her shifting, he added in the statement,” added Nikhil.

Since the duo had tied the knot in Turkey, Nusrat Jahan claimed the marriage was not valid in India from the word go. Nikhil added that since the matter is sub-judice, he cannot comment on issues of legalities of their marriage, but confirmed that he has applied for an annulment in a Kolkata court.

Nikhil Jain’s letter is expected to create another storm as Nusrat continues to find herself in the mud. The details of the marriage are incredibly sketchy at this point but one thing is safe to assume and that is the TMC MP used Nikhil for her political as well as financial gains.
