Harsh Goenka, chairman of the RP Goenka (RPG) Group has made preposterous remarks against Hindu sadhus and Bhagwan Shiva in a span of one month. Now, Indians are calling for the boycott of the RPG Group, particularly CEAT tyres – as Goenka has most notably come to be identified with the company. At a time when the Kumbh Mela at Haridwar is being targeted on social media by anti-Hindu forces, Harsh Goenka too decided to weigh in with his two bits, although he must surely be regretting his remarks now.
On Wednesday, Harsh Goenka tweeted a picture of Hindu sadhus at Har Ki Paudi in Haridwar and sought to insinuate sarcastically that foreign media was bewildered upon seeing some Indians wearing their ‘masks’ way below their faces. This, in a cross-reference to the langots worn by the devotees to cover their private parts while they were taking snaan at Har Ki Paudi. Goenka tweeted, “Meanwhile at the #KumbhMela, the international press is appalled at how low we wear our masks.”

Subsequent to this tweet, another tweet of the RPG Group chairman also caught the public eye, in which Goenka tried acting funny and made a joke on Bhagwan Shiva. On Maha Shivratri last month, the man tweeted, “Lord Shiva visited earth and went to a bar. After 5 bottles of whisky, he had 5 bottles of rum. Bartender was totally shocked to see him sober and asked, “Who are you, not drunk yet?” …Lord Shiva said “Hum bhagwaan Shiv hai”. Bartender said “Ab Chadhi Isko.” #HarHarMahadev”.
CEAT Chairman Harsh Goenka has successfully put on naked display his abject hatred for Hindus, and also his fascination with hurting the sentiments of the community. Now, however, Indians are calling for a boycott of CEAT tyres. In recent past, whoever has crossed the line and tried slandering Hindus and their deities has been met with tremendous backlash on social media, whose consequences also translate most often into monetary losses for the persons concerned.

In a cryptic response to the said backlash, Harsh Goenka on Thursday tweeted, “The less you respond to negative people (including on Twitter), the more peaceful your life will be.” Goenka did not apologise in any manner for his outrageous tweets till the time this report was filed. Goenka’s tweet on Kumbh has also started circulating on social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook, and on messaging platform WhatsApp. It is yet to be seen if Harsh Goenka feels a sense of shame for defaming Hindus.
