At a time when the Central government is dealing with farmers’ protests with the utmost patience and restraint, cracks have started emerging in the farmer groups as with time, their nefarious agenda is increasingly getting exposed. The Kisan Rally has now turned into a polarised group with random leaders calling each other Sanghi and Congressi as the farmers’ protests appear to hurtle towards an end amidst wrangling between the so-called leaders.
Bhartiya Kisan Union (Haryana) President Gurnam Singh Chaduni, has been expelled from Sanyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) committee after it was alleged that Chaduni held a meeting with a section of Congress, SAD and AAP MLAs last week, all of whom were against the farm laws, thereby breaking the rule of not involving politicians in the Kisan rally against the farm laws.
“Gurnam Singh used to talk about staying away from political parties and keeping the parties away from the movement but he himself met political parties,” quoted India Today a source from Sanyukt Kisan Morcha. It is alleged that Chaduni met political leaders in New Delhi on Sunday.
Chaduni has been summoned by the Sanyukt Kisan Morcha before a seven-member disciplinary committee. The union released a statement which read, “SKM is not associated with the all-party meeting taken up by Mr Chaduni with political parties. SKM, after taking note of Mr Chaduni’s ongoing activities with political parties, after a due discussion on the same in a general body meeting of SKM yesterday, has formed a Committee that will inquire into the matter and give its report in 3 days’ time. SKM will take further steps thereafter.”
Chaduni while refuting the allegations against him has hit back as he claimed that Shiv Kumar Kakka is an RSS agent. “We will issue a notice to the newspaper that published the article, as well as Kakka. He should have provided some evidence. These are tricks of the government trying to break the protest and they won’t be successful,” said Chaduni, further polarising the Kisan Rally.
He added, “This can’t be the allegation of Sanyukta Kisan Morcha but an individual. These are Kakka Ji’s(Shivkumar Singh) allegations who himself is an RSS agent. He was head of Rashtriya Kisan Sangh for a long time, a branch of RSS. They’re trying to divide and rule.”
The Centre has shown indomitable patience and has engaged in multiple rounds of talks with the protesting farmers who are increasingly getting exposed as the Kisan rally continues to drag on and refuses to have a clause by clause discussion either with the Central government or the Supreme Court-appointed committee.
