Veganism is a Halal like concept that attacks Dairy Industry in India and Delhi HC’s decision is a landmark one

Veganism, Dairy industry, Delhi High Court

As of FY 20, India is the largest producer of milk and other dairy products in the world. In fact, the country alone accounts for 20 per cent or one-fifth of global dairy produce and consumption. The dairy industry is of such enormous importance to the country that the Union Government has a separate ministry called the Ministry of Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries, and there is also a National Dairy Development Board. But, veganism is a new trend, eating up the efforts made during the ‘White Revolution’ of the 1970s.

A large section of the rural population is dependent on the dairy industry for its living. However, India’s dairy industry is under attack from a fascist force called veganism. The Vegan people do not consume any animal product, and they are so radical about their belief that they think of someone who does not adhere to their belief as a “sinner”.

In India, the dairy industry is being constantly attacked by vegans who want to force everyone to consume the plant-based diet. Recently the Delhi High Court ordered a website ditchdairy.in to remove an article titled ‘White Lie of Amul and Black Truth of Animal Milk’. The article was targeted at Amul and had also tweaked Amul’s popular tagline ‘The Taste of India’ to ‘The Waste of India’.

The readers can visit the website, whose tagline goes as ‘Safed doodh ka kala sach’ (The black reality of white milk). The Vegans, an exponentially growing community in India, are hell-bent to destroy the dairy industry. Most of the vegans of India come from urban, elite backgrounds and have very little awareness about India’s rural economy. In fact, most of these know more about American TV shows than Indian villages and its economy, which is dependent on plants and animals.

However, it is true that in many urban areas, dairying is done at an industrial level and inhumane treatment of animals is prevalent. Many examples such as not allowing the calf to drink milk– which is an essential food for them and giving preference only to the female calf are many inhumane practices prevalent at the places where dairying is done at an industrial scale. However, one does not stop using a motorcycle because it causes environmental pollution or even if there are chances of accidents. There are pros and cons to everything!

Therefore, a campaign against the inhumane treatment of animals definitely needed. However, shunning a large industry which employs billions of people is not only immoral but criminal. Misinformation campaigns against dairy and other animal-based products are similar to betraying the rural economy.

The vegans are as radical about their belief as a large section of the Muslim community over Halal products or Jews over Kosher products. In fact, veganism in India is a step ahead and the vegans see non-vegans as morally inferior!

Every industry has certain bad practices, which need to be eliminated but that does not mean that the industry should be ended altogether. The growing consumption of milk in India– the country that exports dairy products worth 200 million dollars to countries like the United Arab Emirates, Bhutan, Turkey, Egypt, and the United States, shows that there is a huge appetite for a food item that is cheap and healthy.

Given the fact that India already ranks very high in Global Hunger Index despite the availability of food (because the major problem is the availability of nutritious food), the country needs to embrace the dairy products and not shun them due to fascist veganism beliefs.

Some of the organizations run a misinformation campaign to try to convert people to strict veganism and instill so much fear in them that they start thinking of Milk and dairy as poison. One example is telling people that Milk actually takes away your calcium from bones rathen than giving it to you. I know one such educated family who have fallen into this trap. Such misinformation campaign must be dealt with strongly by both media and dairy industry.

The cruelest treatment towards dairy animals now a day is, depriving the mother animals of the God-given mating pleasure. Today because of the high human population and equally greater demand for milk more than ninety percent of mother animals are made pregnant through artificial means, poking hands in their uterus. They never enjoy mating pleasure yet they are made to suffer pregnancy and delivery pain not to mention getting snatched their babies from them much earlier than a natural timeline. And we call some of these mother animals “Mother”. Just imagine that a powerful species from a different planet overpowers us humans and try to extract human milk the same way for their consumption! Most human males are slaughtered and a few powerful men’s semen is used to artificially impregnate human females and snatching babies from them!

TFI, please relook at your stance. If you travel around enough villages and see how many male calves are still alive and with their moms and drinking milk, you will know the truth that many of us conveniently ignore. Anul is not all it is portrayed to be. As rightwingers we must protect cows, and their calves and let’s face it, right now we are doing a shitty job, and now it is a shame that someone else has come to point it out. The white revolution really was a red revolution. Vegans are not wrong. Villagers are not taking care of cows till they die….. wake up and face reality, else what is the difference between you and Rahul Gandhi followers?

It is wrong to term vegans as fascists as they are doing some charity work for animals.
Just like we believe that one day, woman will be working neck and neck with men and that all crimes will end(atleast we working for it), these vegans believe that animal cruelty will end too.
And one of the factors for high global index of India is Livestock Farming.

Who is the smarty pants that wrote this? 😂
Just pure nonsense. Comparing and drawing parallels between Veganism and “halal” is like comparing intelligence with stupidity.

I can break down each and every word of this article, but the problem is you people aren’t ready to even listen. Anyways, good luck with your propaganda.

Wow, this article is so biased it makes me think that Amul is sponsoring it…
Maybe Amul should start manufacturing plant-based milk options such as almond milk or coconut-oil based cheese, instead of being so scared of the growing demand for vegan options? More and more people are shifting towards plant-based milk options and dairy companies around the world are adding suitable products to meet this growing demand and profit from it.

Instead of going after animal rights activists, Amul should just expand and take out a vegan products line. This is how you get vegan activists on your side… You cater to their consumer needs. You let them know that you’re on board and willing to sell ethical and environmentally-friendly products and that all they need to do, is let people know that they can get these products from you.

This article makes little sense when analyzed logically (except for the writer’s apparent “concern” for the rural population and the country’s economy). The article is full of fallacies. I’m listing some of those:

    1. The dairy industry is of enormous importance: Appeal to accomplishment fallacy
    2. Veganism is a trend: Definist fallacy
    3. Veganism is a facist force: False analogy fallacy
    4. Vegans call others as sinners: Ad hominem fallacy
    5. Vegans are hell-bent to destroy rural industry: Straw man fallacy
    6. Vegans have no awareness about rural economy: Ad hominem fallacy
    7. Even motorcycle causes accidents: Apples and oranges fallacy
    8. Veganism = Halal/Kosher: Apples and oranges fallacy
    9. Vegans feel themselves as superior: Strawman fallacy
    10. HC’s decision is a landmark one: Affirming the consequent fallacy

Some of the above may fall under more than one fallacy, but I’ve just listed the most obvious ones. I request the writer to analyse the economic aspect of veganism more in depth before resorting to write more on veganism. Economically speaking, animal agriculture is the most insidious yet the prime cause of world hunger and other issues of serious concern in the modern era (including global warming, resource depletion, inequities in the global society, increased carbon footprint, wastage of water resources, to name a few). Blaming veganism for all the economic downturn, without even understanding that it is all caused by the meat and dairy industry, is the height of stupidity. Even to understand this, one needs to give up being a stakeholder of the animal industrial complex (AIC).

Have been a die hard follower of TFI, but this is a rubbish article, I dont want to get into broader veganism, but think of the ill treatment to the cow, bull and its offspring right through the lifecycle, the white revolution that goes into it, and doesnt discuss the pink after affects. This crap of an article surely sponsored by some dairy owner. Being kind to animals however extreme that may sound to this author, is the essence of Hinduism, he needs some reevaluation of basic fundamental.

truly said. that is why Lord Krishna released all cows in vrindavan as a childhood prank to convey the moral that dairy farming shouldn’t be commercialized.
