Diljit Dosanjh had a promising career in Bollywood, but after his “100 100 rupay waali” jibe, he has killed his own career

Bollywood is nothing less than a golden goose for many, and scores of actors, who have been superstars of regional cinema, have tried their luck here as well. However, very few of them have been actually successful, and Diljit Dosanjh, a Punjabi bigwig, was one of them. However, with one slugfest on Twitter against actress Kangana Ranaut not only exposed his real self but has also placed a huge question mark on his entire career, especially in Bollywood.

Recently, Kangana Ranaut had attacked the involvement of shady protesters from ‘Shaheen Bagh’, such as the old Bilkis Bano, for their involvement in the alleged farmer protests going around New Delhi. Initially, Diljit attempted to clarify that it wasn’t Bilkis, but a Sikh lady, Mahinder Kaur.

However, what was initially a case of mistaken identity, soon turned into an ugly slugfest on Twitter, with neither side ready to budge. Kangana, being aggressive as usual remarked, “Hey favourite pet of Karan Johar, the lady who was protesting against CAA at Shaheen Baagh, is the same who is protesting for the MSP of farmers here. I don’t even know who is Mahinder Kaur, why are you involving women for political gains? Stop this drama!”

https://twitter.com/KanganaTeam/status/1334410492987678721

Diljit got enraged and he replied, “Are you the pet of everyone with whom you have worked? By that logic, you should have many masters. This is not Bollywood, but Punjab. Such gimmicks don’t work here!”

— DILJIT DOSANJH (@diljitdosanjh) December 3, 2020

However, Diljit did not just stop at that point. He went on to tweet in reply to Kangana’s accusations, “How you can say other women as ready to be sold for 100 rupees being a woman yourself? We’re blessed with the blessings of every Punjabi mother; you’ve put your hands into the beehive. Google the Punjabi meaning!”

Bolan Di Tameez Ni Tainu.. Kisey di Maa Bhen Nu..

SADE PUNJAB DIAN MAAVA SADEY LAI RAB NE..

Eh tan Bhoonda De Khakhar nu Shedh Leya Tu..

PUNJABI GOOGLE KAR LI..👍 https://t.co/KSHb45Xpak

— DILJIT DOSANJH (@diljitdosanjh) December 3, 2020

With such a threatening tone, Diljit revealed the man for what he is – a double-faced misogynist, who is ready to heap the choicest of insults on being challenged. While Kangana has invoked controversy more than once for her over aggressive stance, it was Diljit who crossed the line and revealed his murky personality.

To talk in a contemptuous tone over a case of mistaken identity indicates the kind of person Diljit actually is. Unfortunately, he has made the same mistake for which actors like Richa Chaddha, Swara Bhasker and Taapsee Pannu today are nothing more than meme materials on social media.

Also, people forget that in industries like the Indian Cinema, especially Bollywood, your public image really matters. Though Diljit has a Punjabi film Jodi and a Hindi film Kaneda in the pipelines, with his ugly Twitter fight with Kangana Ranaut, he surely has paved way for his slow but imminent destruction. Unless and until there is someone like Anurag Kashyap, not many would now be ready to invest on a person, who is a closet misogynist, and purportedly roots for Khalistani secessionists.

To be honest, the alleged farmer’s protest has been beneficial in a way – it has unmasked the faces of those, who still yesterday, claimed to do anything for the betterment of the nation. The way in which Diljit revealed his true self while protesting against Kangana Ranaut’s opinions, has destroyed any semblance of what could’ve been a really promising career for him in Bollywood.

Utterly one-sided article! Was the writer blind as long as Kangana kept crossing the line? And does he even know what Misogynism means? Who was the one passing remarks against women? What Diljit did was not attack Kangana or the fact that she’s a woman, but her disgusting and attention seeking mentality. She herself does not know what rubbish she spews at times.
And so what if Bollywood rejects him? It’s not the end of the world! Someone like Diljit, who has worked hard right from the bottom that Bollywood approaches him with offers, does not need Bollywood to sustain and grow. Diljit and thousands, if not more, of regional actors can give acting lessons to Bollywood. If you haven’t stepped away from the comfort of your keyboard, you would know that regional cinema can eat Bollywood for breakfast. With a strong and gripping storyline, stellar acting and breathtaking cinematography, these regional movies give Bollywood a run for their money. Perhaps you would know if you explore beyond the dubbed low grade Tollywood masala movies that feature on Hindi movie channels.
Animesh Pandey, the last line of your Bio itself says that you don’t have an original thought process. You’re just intoxicated and influenced by propaganda and would say anything to ride the tide. Open up your mind. Or avoid writing. It matters!

‘Low grade’, huh!! Why involve Tollywood here? ‘Fiberal’!!

    • Augustine Thomas says:

@Syd I did not say Tollywood is Low Grade. I meant selected low grade masala movies from Tollywood which are intentionally dubbed and shown on Hindi movie channels for TRP. You’d know if you are aware that there are many spectacular movies from Tollywood and other regional industries that are not dubbed and shown to the rest of the nation. Try to read in context next time.

Well, Dosanjh was campaigning for SFJ, a visible and vocal group that explicitly calls for creation of Khalistan, and is behind anti-India rallies in several western cities in past 5 years. I don’t think anything further needs to even be said. I believe there was even an FIR against him for this activity, filed by Mr. Bittu of Congress.

Also, the “we are Punjabi” with stress on Punjabi, is a thinly veiled hat doff to separatism. I have nothing against being proud of your state, but to use it this way I feel is to cross the line given the situation where a small but vocal segment of Sikhs over the world are calling for Khalistan using farm bills as an excuse.

Dosanjh should go and settle in Canada where Khalistan is coming up in a big way with govt support. There is no place for him in Mumbai, Punjab or any other part of India.

Dosanjh is following footsteps of Sidhu. Being anti-India, pro-Pakistan (even though pakistani muslims torment the sikhs there like hell), and bogeyman for Khalistan terrorists (who are also just doing because getting money for Pakistan). He will also become irrelevant like Sidhu. Today, Indians are united like never before despite all our difference in language, culture etc. Whether one is Punjabi, or Tamil, or Bengali, or Marathi, or Gujarati, every Indian is for a strong and united India. And every year, we are realising that only BJP, and especially Modi, is the only party standing for India. Expect congress, communists, and many regional parties that don’t have India at heart, like mamta, to become completely annihilated by Indian voters in time to come
