The Narcotics Control Bureau is tightening its screws on the Chakraborty family as the brother-sister duo of Showik and Rhea Chakraborty are in the dock for their alleged involvement in procuring drugs. Showik Chakraborty, Sushant’s colleague Samuel Miranda and Sushant’s house help Dipesh Sawant have been detained by the NCB in connection with the drugs case. The fact that Showik has admitted that he used to ‘arrange’ drugs for his sister, Rhea, points to her imminent arrest with the statements of Rhea’s lawyer also indicating that Rhea’s arrest is a bygone conclusion.
At a time when Rhea Chakraborty’s PR machinery is working on an overdrive to label Rhea as a ‘victim’ of a media trial, Showik Chakraborty has admitted that he used to ‘arrange’ drugs for his sister, Rhea. The latter, in the interrogation has also admitted that she used to consume and exchange drugs, which make her arrest a question of when and not if.
It is pertinent to note that before the NCB interrogation, Rhea had steadfastly denied that she consumed drugs and on the contrary, accused the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput of consuming drugs. Only a person with no moral and ethics would accuse a dead person of something to save herself.
The NCB seems to be in no haste in arresting Rhea as they know that her PR machinery will most likely go bonkers and there needs to be a watertight case before arresting Rhea. The NCB has again summoned Rhea for further rounds of questioning later today.
Rhea’s lawyer Satish Maneshinde has also started playing the victim card as he said, “Rhea Chakraborty is ready for arrest as this is a Witch Hunt and if loving someone is a crime she will face the consequences of her love.”
He added, “Being innocent, she has not approached any court for Anticipatory Bail in all the cases foisted by Bihar Police now with CBI, ED and NCB.”
Such is the gravity of Rhea’s crime that even one India’s most expensive lawyers will find it difficult to secure an anticipatory bail for Rhea and hence, the victim card.
Rhea’s father has voiced his Army background and middle-class upbringing as he blamed the country for “destroying a middle-class family”.
Lt Col (retired) Indrajit Chakraborty in a statement said, “Congratulations India. You’ve arrested my son, I’m sure my daughter is next on the line. You’ve effectively demolished a middle-class family. Of course, for the sake of Justice, everything is justified. Jai Hind.”
Rhea’s father with his statement has also redefined the word ‘middle-class’ as not many middle-class families would be able to afford the fees of Satish Maneshinde.
The difficulties for Rhea are only going to increase, as last week the NCB arrested Deepesh Sawant, the cook of Sushant Singh Rajput. Now Deepesh is ready to become a government witness, and his statements are expected to expose Rhea Chakraborty.
An ambitious PR campaign is in the works with the Bollywood elite led by the likes of Taapsee Pannu, Rich Chaddha, Swara Bhasker and host of other celebrities have started beating the drums over the ‘victimisation’ of Rhea Chakraborty with Taapsee even comparing the media’s relentless questioning of Rhea’s role to that of the erstwhile tradition of Sati.
Had Arnab Goswami not led the charge, Sushant’s case would have been closed as a case of suicide by the Mumbai Police long back. There is a reason why the who’s who of Bollywood is now backing Rhea Chakraborty because the industry is headed for an almighty clean up which will begin with the imminent arrest of Rhea Chakraborty.
