Prior to the CBI calling prime accused – Rhea Chakraborty in for questioning about the suspicious death of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput, the actor’s former live-in partner has given a two-hour long interview to India Today’s Rajdeep Sardesai, with snippets of the interview doing the rounds on AajTak as well. While the media network is absurdly claiming to have ‘grilled’ Rhea Chakraborty, it seems that the Indians are not convinced and are rather outraged at the alleged PR stunt which the prime accused has pulled off in cahoots with the infamous Rajdeep Sardesai.
Rajdeep Sardesai is known to ask some very tough questions to those he interview, case in point is the man’s interview with Sonia Gandhi. However, given how sensitive the matter relating to the mysterious death of Sushant Singh Rajput is, one would have expected Sardesai to at the very least, pretend to be a journalist. However, his questions to Rhea were leading in nature, and what has shocked the nation as a whole is his preconceived notion of the late actor suffering from “mental health issues.”
It must be remembered that Rajdeep Sardesai had earlier claimed that Sushant was not that big an actor for the Mumbai Police to be pressurised in the matter. Acting on the same bias throughout the interview with Rhea Chakraborty, it seems Rajdeep’s only motive was to provide the prime accused with a national platform to absolve herself. Rajdeep also does not shy away from referring to Rhea’s version as the “truth”.

Sardesai has time and again lamented over how the entire nation is unduly focussing on the death of Sushant Singh Rajput, instead of diverting their energies towards a raging pandemic, floods in various parts of the country and all other aspects disturbing the daily lives of people who have absolutely no control over such developments. While it is claimed by the media network which employs Rajdeep Sardesai that Rhea was ‘grilled’, in the clips shared so far, Rajdeep’s performance would not even qualify for as an event recorder.
Rajdeep gives a free pass to Rhea Chakraborty as she utilises the platform given to her to the fullest extent to absolve herself and paint Sushant Singh Rajput as a man who had tremendous mental health issues and “depressive episodes”. She also used the opportunity to subtly indicate how Sushant was taking medication he had no prescriptions for, a claim for which she is not counter-questioned by Rajdeep, unlike what any other decent journalist would do.
Rajdeep Sardesai is blatantly sympathetic towards Rhea Chakraborty, and the same is visible from his recent social media trail. The alleged journalist had even accused Vikas Singh, lawyer of Sushant’s family of being a part of a ‘media trial’ against Rhea Chakraborty. Vikas Singh had subsequently walked out of the live show, of course after thoroughly exposing as to how Rajdeep and the channel he works for were pursuing the lawyer to appear on their screens.
While the full interview will be aired tonight at 9 pm, we believe that Rajdeep Sardesai will not be letting us down, and will be a wholehearted contributor in Rhea Chakraborty’s PR campaign which mandates an image makeover for her.
