The military confrontation that happened between the Indian Army and the People’s Liberation Army of China along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Eastern Ladakh has already emerged as the biggest military tussle in the Himalayas since the 1999 Kargil war.
20 Indian soldiers were martyred in the conflict in the sub-zero temperatures, as confirmed by the Indian Army. According to various sources, the Chinese side has suffered even more casualties with the number going well over 40.
These developments took place amidst the talks of de-escalation at Galwan Valley, where the Chinese troops had infiltrated deep into the Indian Territory by the month of May.
In the wake of the escalating conflict with China that happened in the Galwan valley on late Monday night, the Indian Government has given powers to the armed forces to make emergency procurements to stock up its war reserves along the Line of Actual Control.
According to an ET report, the Chief of Defence Staff Bipin Rawat has been asked co-ordinate with all the three services to prioritise the requirements, wherever necessary.
The Air Force assets have been moved to the forward posts including fighter jets as India prepares for any eventuality.
The Union government is leaving nothing to chance and the Navy has also been given the go-ahead to deploy its assets near the Malacca Strait and, if needed, anywhere else in the Indo-Pacific to counter Chinese action.
The Dragon has been concentrating on the Strait of Malacca, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, the Maldives and the Strait of Hormuz in order to checkmate India in the area of its traditional influence, viz. the Indian Ocean Region (IOR).
But now tables have turned, as New Delhi has signed military logistics pact with the US, France, South Korea, Singapore, and Australia to encircle China with its own string and this might have further irked China.
The current situation has proved it once again – India won’t back down, come what may. The South Block is actively engaged in preparing for every possible outcome and that includes War.
The message is loud and clear that the government is preparing for the worst-case scenario. India has never been the aggressor, as history has proven but when pushed, the battle-hardened soldiers of the Indian army will not yield an inch to the PLA troops, and these developments are being seen in a similar light.
