Enforcement Directorate, the premier agency which investigates financial crimes, has attached 9 story Bandra building owned by Associated Journals Limited, the publisher of National Herald newspaper, in a money laundering case under PMLA. The attachment order was issued against AJL Limited and Motilal Vora, chairman cum Managing Doctor of the company and old Congress family loyalist.
In the whole National Herald case, Motilal Vora has emerged as the saviour of the Gandhi family just like Salman Khan’s driver, Ashok Singh, in the hit and run case. In the much-publicized hit and run case in which one person was killed and four were seriously injured, Salman Khan’s driver Ashok Singh, who has worked for the actor since 1989, lied in the court that he was driving the car at the time of the accident to save the Bollywood star.
However, as per the FIR filed by Salman Khan’s bodyguard Ravikant Patil, who was in the car at the time of the accident, Salman Khan was driving the car at the time and he was under the influence of alcohol. Patil died of TB in 2007, almost 5 years after the accident, and Salman Khan’s driver has been able to save the actor for the last 18 years by taking the blame to himself. This is much like the story of Congress leader Motilal Vora.
Ashok Singh, the driver who took the blame to save the actor, is known as “wafadari ki misaal” in Bollywood. Similarly, Motilal Vora is ‘wafadari ki misaal’ for Congress establishment as takes the whole blame for corruption and money laundering to himself, thus, saving Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi- the real owners of the Young India, the company which owns AJL, which publishes National Herald.
Vora has been rewarded handsomely for being loyal to the Gandhi family. He was given Rajya Sabha seat from Chattisgarh in April 2014, a few weeks before Congress was ousted from power. He is a director in Young Indian company since 2011 and Managing Director and Chairman of AJL since 2002. Motilal Vora was rewarded with the position of treasurer of the All India Congress Committee from 2000 to 2018.
Motilal Vora was among the Gandhi family loyalists who helped Sonia Gandhi to manage coup against Congress establishment of the late 1990s and he backed her leadership when many senior leaders like Sharad Pawar, Mamata Banerjee left Congress to form their own party.
Subramanian Swamy, India’s foremost crusader against corruption, is trying to get Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi on the radar as they are actual owners of the newspaper and illegally owned properties of its parent company. But given the fact 92-year-old Motilal Vora is MD and chairman of the company, ED named him in the case, not Gandhi’s who are actual owners through Young India, the parent company in which Sonia and Rahul Gandhi have 76 percent shares.
In November 2012, Swamy filed a case in the National Herald Corruption case for the first time in the court. He also filed cases with investigation agencies like ED, CBI, Income Tax department, and many state governments like Haryana, but Gandhi’s are still not behind bars, thanks to 92-year-old Motilal Vora. Despite the best efforts of a lawyer as competent as Subramanian Swamy, Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi are safe because Vora shields them every time, just like Salman Khan’s driver, Ashok Singh, saved him for last 18 years.
