Subramanian Swamy, Rajya Sabha member from BJP and India’s foremost crusader against corruption, has spectacularly hit back at Javed Akhtar on Twitter and said that Akhtar ‘represented D gang (Dawood gang)’.
Swamy shared a news on the micro blogging platform about Austria ‘closing 7 mosques and kicking out 60 imams’. Although the news is almost 9 months old, given the clout of Swamy on Twitter and the topic itself, the tweet generated a very good response with 24.5 thousand likes, 7.7 thousand retweets and 1.1 thousand comments in last 6 hours.
Among those who commented, one was Javed Akhtar who wrote that Swamy was ‘kicked out of’ Harvard University and it was well deserved. “Like you were kicked out from Harvard ? You deserved it and I am sure so do these Imams . You all are the birds of the same feathers . You all spread wings to spread hate,” tweeted Akhtar.

Akhtar’s reply obviously did not go well with Swamy’s fans who trolled him left, right and centre. Given the huge following Swamy has on Twitter, he did not need to respond to Akhtar who got a taste of his own medicine from Swamy’s followers.

However, after almost 6 hours, Swamy himself responded to Akhtar and brought back his whole political history in front of the public. Akhtar, an avowed Communist and Atheist, comes out as top class hypocrite most of the time, as he defends the Islamists and was also on the Board of Directors of Jet Airways, a corporation with Capitalist ethics.
Swamy put these facts on Twitter and tweeted, “Is there any reason for me to reply to someone who represented D gang’s interests in Jet Airways and oversaw its collapse? With what qualification did he get on Jet’s Board ? Wait for conclusion of my ongoing PIL on Jet – Etihad deal in WP No. 888 of 2013 in SC.”

Previously Swamy had raised the issue of Akhtar being on the Board of Directors of Jet Airways on Twitter and filed a PIL in Supreme Court in 2013. “What is a Communist like Javed Akhtar doing on the Board of Directors of Jet Airways–reading out poetry for finance?,” tweeted Swamy in July 2013.

Previously in April 2013, Javed Akhtar and Subramanian Swamy had a long spat on Twitter, in which Swamy finished his response with following lines: ‘A Muslim of India can be a Hindustani or a Jehadi. A moderate Muslim is oxymoron like boiled ice cream.’
The whole thread can be read on the following link.
@Swamy39 Mr swami . Jinnah's grand father was a Hindu. Now tell me you consider Jinnah apna or unka. Come on ,Why don't you grow up

Javed Akhtar was a nominated member of Rajya Sabha from 22 March 2010 – 21 March 2016, and during the term he was also put on the Board of Directors of Jet Airways which ceased operations on 17 April 2019 due to bankruptcy. If a person like Javed Akhtar who is against Capitalism is put on the board, any company is bound to fail like Jet Airways, and Swamy raised the same issue.
