In a show of intolerance towards a national icon and freedom fighter, the Kamal Nath government in Madhya Pradesh has suspended a school principal after free notebooks with images of Veer Savarkar were distributed in his school. He was suspended after the notebooks carrying pictures of the Hindutva ideologue were distributed to the students of his school by an organisation (NGO) called Veer Savarkar Manch.
Kerawat is celebrated across the state for his contribution in uplifting the state of education especially in tribal areas, he has also been awarded by the President for this.
The suspension of the principal marks the ideology-driven cleansing of the government employees in the state. The incident exhibits the malicious campaign of the Congress to belittle the contribution of Savarkar and other nationalists towards country’s freedom struggle. The state government has been on a campaign to target the people who are connected to the RSS especially the employees of the state.
The issue was even highlighted by former CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan in a series of tweets, saying that CM Kamal Nath is blinded by his hatred for Veer Savarkar and ‘Congressi mindset’ is behind this kind of insults to the national icons. It is saddening to see a principal honoured by the President of India in the past being treated like this, he added.

Congress government is trying to end the influence of RSS in the universities and schools by removing the teachers who are considered close to nationalist ideology while appointing teachers and professors of their own lot. Latest example of this is the appointment of casteist professor Dilip Mandal in Makhanlal University. This has created an environment of fear among the teachers and government employees as the Congress’ regional leaders are involved in vindictive transfer (even suspension for some) racket.
Similarly in Maharashtra, the NCP, Congress and Shiv Sena trio has also been involved in this kind of vindictive approach as Yogesh Soman, director of the Academy of Theatre Arts of the Mumbai University, has been sent on forced leave with the university initiating an inquiry against complaints received against him after he expressed his views critical to the Congress party.
The intolerance and vindictive approach of the Congress party is at the fore again, however it is disheartening to witness that the education system of the state is being brutally targeted for proximity to a nationalist ideology. This is a continuation of the policies of former CM Digvijaya Singh regime, as he is once again controlling the state affairs with Kamal Nath acting as a rubber-stamp CM.
