The 2000 Miss World Winner, Priyanka Chopra, who shot to international fame after starring in the US TV series, ‘Quantico’, was recently seen vacationing in Miami with husband Nick Jonas. However, a shocking picture, of her smoking a cigarette has turned up, as shared by several fan pages of the Jonas Brothers. Priyanka has repeatedly claimed that she suffers from Asthma.

Cigarette smoking is industrious to health and a habit frowned upon by people in general. However, for an individual with asthma, it is nothing short of a death stick. No asthmatic person in their right sense would dare to smoke a cigarette for fear of drastic health repercussions, but strangely, Priyanka Chopra doesn’t seem to care much about them.
This uncaring attitude for her health wasn’t always the case. Ahead of the diwali festival, Priyanka Chopra had urged people not to create pollution by buring firecrackers and had attempted to make an emotional appeal by stating, “Please meri saans ko berok rakhiye. Diwali pe patakho ko skip kijiye,”(please keep my breathing unstoppable, skip the crackers this Diwali). She also added that the festival should be celebrated with “lights, ladoos and love, and not pollution so that asthmatics like me can enjoy the festival.”

Her hypocritical attitude was first witnessed on the eve of her wedding when there was a display of crackers; that too in such a large quantity that people were shell shocked. At that time, the citizens had questioned this blatant hypocrisy and ignorance. She apparently didn’t think much of her “saans” during that time.
Apparently, Priyanka Chopra’s asthma only acts during Diwali. It makes special adjustments for her wedding, an odd cigarette here and there or any other occasion that Priyanka deems fit.
Priyanka Chopra recently came under fire during the Assam floods issue when, irrespective of being the former brand ambassador for Assam tourism, she omitted to do anything worthwhile for the state. For a person who apparently believes in charity and social work, considering that she is involved with UNICEF women, aiding the Assam victims wouldn’t have been that difficult.
A person is known for his credibility. However much fame and fortune Priyanka achieves, if she cannot practice what she preaches, her word means nothing. If a person is coming out to spread social messages, they should follow it themselves or not expect others to make sacrifices on their behest. Telling people to stay of crackers on Diwali is valid, however, attempting to come off as a helpless individual having asthma when she is smoking cigarettes and bursting crackers is unacceptable. Moreover, it is an insult to those individuals who are actually suffering from asthma and wouldn’t dream of even going around a lit cigarette for fear of passive smoking, let alone smoke it voluntarily.
