Congress has been facing strong criticism for its prevailing culture with respect to women. Recently, Priyanka Chaturvedi who was the national spokesperson of the grand old party jumped ships to the Shiv Sena, citing similar reasons. However, senior Congress leaders have been courteous over the sequence of events, the worst affected seem to be the journalist considered close to Congress.
Priyanka Chaturvedi had tweeted “I can see my former colleagues from Congress have been more large hearted and understanding than the beat reporters of the party. Malicious and motivated clearly.”

To which Pallavi Ghosh, senior editor of CNN-News18 and considered really close to Congress, had replied which was followed by an acute rebuttal by the new Shiv Sena Leader. She tweeted “ As per a reporter “She is a relatively new entrant to the party&in a short time has risen to become 1 of the most high profile&respected faces” To the writer: I have earned every single bit of this respect by giving my best to the party.Won’t allow any reporter to take that away”

What ensued was a long Twitter debate between Priyanka Chaturvedi and Pallavi Ghosh.
When questioned on the sources of the news, Pallavi Ghosh said “The same sources were good according to you at one time. I will show my large heart and leave it here. Oh btw, some of the trolls you fought against when you were on the other side r now hounding me… will u stand up to them ? All the best and gn ..”
Priyanka Chaturvedi replied “Will stand up against any trolling irrespective of my politics. Also I don’t remember u sharing name of sources to me ever for me to judge whether good or bad Anyway you enjoy reporting through sources how long in politics is good enough a time for women to seek acknowledgment”.

Priyanka Chaturvedi also took on the controversial online publication, The Wire for peddling unverified information.
“3 factual errors in the headline itself! Come on @thewire_in , you can do better to criticise an ‘inconsequential leader’ -I was disappointed but not miffed -I did not seek a ticket from Mumbai North or Mathura but Mumbai NW. -Last I checked ambition is not a curse”

This recent events also raise questions on the ‘neutral’ media which have been portraying itself as a ‘flag bearers of liberalism’ have taken the silent route on the events that led to Priyanka Chaturvedi resigning from the Congress.
Priyanka Chaturvedi had recently jumped ship to the Shiv Sena from the Congress over her reservations on the prevailing culture in the grand old party. Priyanka Chaturvedi in a letter to the Congress Chief Rahul Gandhi had expressed her stand but was ignored which led to her eventual resignation.
