Rahul Gandhi, in order to protect the relevance of the struggling Congress, has included a new member in his core team. According to a media report, Sandeep Singh, former Comrade from the Jawaharlal Nehru University, seems to be now a part of the Rahul advisory team for the crucial 2019 General Elections. A native of UP, Sandeep Singh was elected as the JNU student union Chief in 2007. Sandeep joined JNU after graduating from Allahabad University, where he got acquainted with the All India Students Association (AISA), the student wing of the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist).
Though not an official advisor yet, Sandeep has been busy writing Rahul Gandhi’s Speeches and has also been helping him in managing alliances. Many of the new announcements made by Rahul Gandhi sure have a shadow of communist influence over them, possibly coming from his new found team member, Sandeep Singh. Rahul Gandhi had recently announced his NYAY scheme which promised a basic Income to a section of the population, a move which many economists and observers have termed ‘Disastrous’. Communist roots of Sandeep Singh are surely imprinted on this scheme which is bound to put extreme pressure on the Indian economic state. Congress insiders are claiming that the leftist influence, brought in by Sandeep Singh is behind anti-business speeches of Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Vadra. During a recent address at the Sindhora Ghat in Varanasi, Priyanka said, “After the Congress government came to power in Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh, farm loans were waived. But under this government, industrialists and businessman are the only ones who are happy.”

Sandeep Singh is also said to be behind Priyanka Vadra’s UP tour where she had met BHIM army Chief Chandra Shekhar. With Sandeep Singh’s rising influence, Rahul Gandhi has been increasingly siding more towards Left Leaning intellectuals for forming party policy and managing electoral campaigns. In another incident Rahul Gandhi had promised to dissolve NITI Aayog and reestablish the Socialist era Planning Commission which P. Chidambaram himself had called “too big, flabby and unwieldy,” Communist influence on Rahul Gandhi is surely not a good indication for the Indian economy. Countries like Venezuela already struggling due to their communist policies, Indian citizens need to be safeguarded against detrimental economic philosophies.
Sandip Singh who has been trying to dissociate himself from his communist roots has been accused by NSUI for working against Congress in JNU. “Sandeep Singh former JNUSU President and AISA activist who is now a member of Rahul Gandhi’s team visited JNU campus and told them that if they want to join the Congress then don’t be part of NSUI rather join the Left and raise yourself to the higher post in Congress Party” the general secretary wrote. “This demotivates our party members and activists and weakens our team in JNU.” “Singh is using his position in RG’s office, phoning our MPs /MLAs in Madhya Pradesh and getting AISA people jobs. It doesn’t stop at that. Our worry is groups like AISA are joining Congress and diluting our ideology,” said an NSUI functionary.
The immediate impact of the NSUI letter to Rahul’s office was that Sandeep Singh stopped visiting Campus. “After our letter, he has stopped campaigning. He must have at best made two trips to the camps. But he was the man who was part of black flag demonstration against our then PM Dr Manmohan Singh. How can we forget that?” said a NSUI source.
