The Quint has yet again been involved in an imbecile move that may lead to heavy repercussions for the country. The media organization has written a piece covering Pakistan’s involvement in providing safe haven to terror outfits and the political support it gives to terrorists. The Quint in the piece has siphoned off a huge chunk of India’s territory to Pakistan, and has put it as a part of the belligerent nation.
Earlier in 2018, Financial Action Task Force (FATF) had put Pakistan on its grey list, curtailing its international financial support. After the Pulwama attack, Pakistan has been issued a warning to take stringent action against terror outfits in its territory, and if it does not abide by this, the Islamic Republic may risk getting blacklisted. Pakistan’s economy is in ruins and it desperately needs financial help from international organizations. In light of this situation, Pakistan is pretending to take measures by sentencing the terror perpetrators to preventive custody. This is just a facade adopted and the preventive custody is more like a Pablo Escobar VIP guest lodge.
However, while pretending to condemn Pakistan, The Quint has subtly represented India’s territory as that of Pakistan’s. The territory is the area of Jammu & Kashmir, which is an integral part of India as per the Instrument of Accession, a legal document executed by Maharaja Hari Singh, ruler of the princely state of Jammu & Kashmir, on October 26, 1947. Pakistan has been attempting to illicitly stake a claim in the Indian region with the help of terror outfits and through illegal encroachments.

As is clearly visible on comparing the three maps, the media organization has siphoned off a substantial area belonging to India, to Pakistan.
The Quint on one hand tries to portray Pakistan as a safe haven for terror outfits and condemns the global attacks but on the other hand, it is portraying India’s territory as that of Pakistan’s. What is this strange contradictory move that The Quint is exercising?
Moreover, this article has been written by Journalist Aditya Raj Kaul, a former Republic TV journalist. He has been very vocal about being a nationalist during his stunts at Republic TV and Times Now, seemingly holier than thou. Kaul is a Kahmiri Pandit, greatly affected by the adversities that his community had to undergo in Kashmir. In light of these, Kaul at least from the entire team of Quint ‘journalists’ should have been more pro-active in ensuring that traitorous images were not displayed on his article.
The media organization has been previously involved in quite a few anti-national stunts. A few weeks ago, The Quint had claimed that Kulbhushan Jadhav was an Indian Spy, and a very bad one at that who was hired even after top RAW officials had rejected his candidature. This was then repeatedly used by Pakistan at the International Court of Justice to prove their case against India. This nonsensical move had upset people, and so The Quint had been forced to take the article down. The Quint has again published a national article which will be used by Pakistan to portray India’s territory as its own. The issue of Kashmir is a very sensitive one and has been the bone of discord between India and Pakistan since the time of independence. In the wake of Pulwama attacks, India expects the whole country to ally together; but The Quint seems to have its loyalties elsewhere. As is rightly portrayed in the classic Ramayana, “an insider causes the maximum damage”. Even though the scope of the Right to Freedom of Speech and Expression is quite wide in our democracy, this type of anti-nationalist journalism should be suspended keeping in mind India’s sovereignty and integrity.
