After the recently concluded state assembly elections and the Congress’ victory in the three states of Hindi heartland- Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh- the pliant media has been trying to project Rahul Gandhi as the perfect candidate for the post of PM in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. However, the ground reality is completely different. People seem to dislike Rahul Gandhi very much, and there are ample evidences validating this fact. One of the evidences can be seen in the viral video of India Today Mind Rocks 2019- India’s biggest youth summit- which is ongoing in Bhubaneswar.
In the viral clip, Raj Chengappa- Group Editorial Director (Publishing), India Today Group- asks, “Will Rahul Gandhi make a good Prime Minister?” The audience comprising mostly of youths, answers in a loud roaring and clear cut ‘NO’. This was enough to show what young India thinks of Rahul Gandhi but it seems the anchor wanted to double check. So this time he gave a spin to the question, probably to manipulate the audience with an aim to get few yesses and asked, “Who says ‘Yes’ he (Rahul Gandhi) will make a good prime minister?” After this question, there was a pin drop silence in the auditorium and after few seconds the audience burst into a thundering and mocking laughter. Earlier when the anchor had asked the same question, people started shouting “Pappu, pappu, pappu”.

This 35 seconds video clip is enough to cement the fact that Rahul Gandhi is probably not Prime Minister material but comic relief in the eyes of young India. They don’t want to see a man without vision as the Prime Minister of the country. From the next time onwards, instead of asking “Will Rahul Gandhi make a good or bad PM”, the media should ask “Will Rahul Gandhi ever become Prime Minister?”
The media tries very hard to set the narrative in favor of Rahul Gandhi but in this digital age they cannot fool the young voters and other sections of the population. The young generation understands better what is right and what is wrong than the pliant media, who are blind cheerleaders of a dynast, and only promote him.
As far as India Today is concerned, it must have regretted its choice of declaring Rahul Gandhi as the Newsmaker of the Year- 2018. The youngsters trolled their choice on their very own platform.

The anchor in the video, Raj Chengappa, who authored a very lengthy article titled: Newsmaker of the year: Evolution of Rahul Gandhi, from political novice to primary challenger, must have been also feeling very embarrassed.
Union Railways Minister Piyush Goyal also took a jibe at the Gandhi scion. He tweeted the video in which the youths of Bhubaneswar royally trolled Rahul Gandhi with the following caption: “An eye-opening moment revealing the people’s disdain for Rahul Gandhi. When the young crowd is asked whether he would make a good Prime Minister, there is only mocking laughter all round. The people have made up their minds.”

The youth of Bhubaneswar probably reflect what the youth of India are thinking, and what their political preferences might be. They don’t even consider the Gandhi scion as an option.
