Priyanka Gandhi net worth reaches 450 crores

The daughter of the first family of the Congress, Priyanka Gandhi celebrated her birthday yesterday. On the occasion, Patrika gave a succinct account of Priyanka Gandhi’s net worth. As per Patrika, Priyanka who turned 47 yesterday lives in a house worth Rs. 85 crores. Priyanka Gandhi
net worth is 450 crores rupees. Patrika cited financial website, FinApp as the source of its information. It has also been reported that she earns around Rs. 33 crore every year. She also has an impressive car collection consisting of 5 cars worth Rs. 4.1 crores. It consists of high end luxury cars such as Jaguar and Ford.

This clearly shows that while the country did not progress at the desired rate of growth since independence when the family or those selected by the Nehru-Gandhi family were in power for a major portion of India’s independent history, the family has grown by leaps and bounds.

Priyanka Gandhi is also the trustee of the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation. Of late, Priyanka Gandhi has been maintaining distance from political discourse of the country. At one time, her followers had been vocal about her entry into active politics in order to ensure the revival of the grand old party but once Rahul Gandhi was elevated as the party president, Priyanka Gandhi became inactive and her supporters went mum. According to The Pioneer, it is a part of a well thought out strategy. As per sources within the Congress, Sonia Gandhi didn’t want two power centres once Rahul Gandhi assumed charge and secondly, questions could also have been raised over the Vadra issue.

Why Priyanka Gandhi is not part of Active politics of Congress?

It is clear that the Congress understands what the outrage around the issue concerning Vadra means in political terms. The Congress had come under heavy fire during the 2014 Lok Sabha polls on account of allegations about favouring the son-in-law of the family leading to an unbelievable surge in his wealth. Details of murky land deals involving the Congress governments and the son-in-law of the family and allegations of crony capitalism on the part of the then Congress-led UPA government had then taken the grand old party by surprise, which succumbed to the widespread outrage among the electorate.

The Congress bore the brunt of Vadra issue in 2014 Lok Sabha polls but the issue has refused to die down. In 2017, the CBI registered 18 cases of fraudulent and fictitious claims against entities that included a company linked to Robert Vadra. Out of the 18 cases, 4 cases relate to Vadra’s company. Last year, irregularities about the fully elevated Rapid Metro had come to light. It was reported that fraudulent numbers in a DPR prepared by IL&FS in collusion with DLF drove the entire project even through a cost overrun, and the banks that lent to IL&FS now have to put up with this yet another failing asset. Not only did this raise questions on whether the functioning of this giant and indispensable Indian company was compromised, but also whether the Haryana government and DLF colluded with each other since it would not have been the first time. Even though DLF pulled out of the joint venture it benefited by obtaining metro connectivity to Gurugram through Cyber City, DLF Phase-2 and DLF Phase-3.

The Congress very well understands that Priyanka Gandhi’s mind-boggling net worth and income could also become a political issue that could bring the Congress under severe criticism. This could be the reason why her net worth has been almost brushed under the carpet by the Congress sympathetic mainstream media. It might be for the first time that it was reported by a media house. This could also be the reason why Priyanka Gandhi has been almost totally inactive when it comes to Indian politics, it is possible that the Congress is afraid that her and her husband Robert Vadra’s income and Priyanka Gandhi net worth can create an embarrassing situation for the Congress.
