In an interview with the Economic Times, CM Yogi talked about many issues related to the state of Uttar Pradesh. The questions were asked regarding issues like BJP’s defeat in the recent assembly elections, farm loan waiver, and the Ram Mandir. On the Ram Mandir issue, he said that Mandir in Ayodhya is the only solution, it will pave way for development.
Further, when asked about his take on the call for his resignation (Many eminent people had asked for Yogi’s resignation after Bulandshahr case), CM Yogi responded, “Just who are these intellectuals, IAS officers? These are those who did not get another job or a second chance. They are a spent force. They are the people who talk about separating Kashmir from India. So, they will always speak against me. For them, people like me become the red rag to the raging bull. Those intellectuals who have earned a living at the cost of trading the country’s interest will surely be provoked by people like me.”
Yogi added that the nature of these intellectuals could have not been described in a better manner than this. It seems that the entire show is nothing but a desperate attempt to revive the ‘intolerance debate’. A few days back Naseeruddin Shah, a veteran actor, featured in a short video titled ‘Tathya’ on Karwaan e Mohabbat India, a left-liberal channel on YouTube, where Naseeruddin Shah expressed his concern for children, particularly his own, as he talked about mob based religious violence. Naseeruddin also attacked the present government for not condemning the mob mentality, as he indirectly referred to the killing of a police officer in the controversial case of Bulandshahr, where mob violence broke out following the murder of a protesting student over the issue of cow carcasses by the local police.
In the interview when Yogi Adityanath was asked about the Bulandshahr incident, he replied, “Bulandshahr was an accident. Let me actually clarify, it’s an incident, ek ghatna, behind which there’s a conspiracy. And those involved in that conspiracy have been arrested. Those who can’t find ways to challenge the performance of the UP government are conspiring to engineer such incidents. We have uncovered this and will soon take some serious steps. As for law order, I cannot claim that it’s a zero crime situation. But I can certainly claim that when compared to the governments of the last 15 years, crime is down to its lowest in the state today”.
Again when asked, if the state government is equating the killing of a police officer with a cow slaughter case, Yogi gave a straight-forward answer stating, “We have not equated the two. Those responsible for the killing of the police officer are being investigated separately. And those behind cow slaughter are facing due legal action separately. But what’s important for us is that we must get to the root cause of every incident”. Talking about the root cause of Bulandshahr incident, he said, “The root cause is a conspiracy, which created a clash that led to violence and this incident”.
It is evident that this vicious campaign of ‘intolerance’ is nothing but an attempt to mislead people prior to the Lok Sabha elections of 2019 as the opposition and left-liberal media did before the assembly elections of Bihar and Delhi in 2015. In the interview, Yogi Adityanath demolished all such arguments that pointed fingers on the intentions of Modi government and made it clear that ‘intolerance’ is nothing but an issue which comes up at the time of elections.
