BJP President Amit Shah launched a blistering attack on the Congress party and its president, Rahul Gandhi after the Supreme Court gave a clean chit to the NDA government in the Rafale deal case. On Friday, a three-Judge Bench of the Supreme Court comprising Chief Justice Gogoi, Justices S K Kaul, and K M Joseph dismissed all the petitions seeking a court-monitored investigation into the Rafale deal.

“Truth has triumphed… Biggest attempt to mislead country since Independence… It’s a slap on the face of politics of falsehood,” said the BJP President.
Amit Shah while addressing a press conference said, “We welcome the judgement of the Supreme Court, the truth has won. People were being misled by unfortunately the country’s oldest party.” He claimed that the Supreme Court’s verdict is “a slap on the politics of lies.”
Amit Shah also hurled a bunch of questions on the opposition. He asked, “If Congress had all the proof then why did they not go to the Supreme Court with it?” Amit Shah further said, “Their B team was already there. JPC is formed only when there is a discussion in the house(Parliament), I challenge Congress for a discussion on it.”
Amit Shah also asked Rahul Gandhi to apologize for misleading people over the Rafale deal. He also asked Rahul Gandhi to reveal his source of information on the basis of which he made such big allegations. Amit Shah said, “I want to ask Rahul Gandhi – what was source of your information. At whose behest were you were making such allegations… Why didn’t your government finalise the deal between 2007 and 2014. Was it waiting for a commission.”
The BJP President further asked, “We did not say anything so far. In every meeting, he raised suspicions about the deal. Now the Supreme Court has clarified. He should now reveal his source.”
Amit Shah also took a jibe at Rahul Gandhi’s ‘chowkidar chor hai’ remark. He said, “All thieves got together and said watchman is a thief… Now we know it is because the thieves were scared of the watchman.”
The BJP chief called Rahul Gandhi’s act of making baseless allegations as ‘Childish’, and advised, “If you throw mud and dirt at the Sun then it will fall back on you.”

Amit Shah asserted that PM Modi-led NDA government was not running away from a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe into the issue. He said, “We are not running from a JPC probe, I’m asking them as to why they ran away from the Supreme Court. If they had evidence, they should have become a party in the case and placed all documents before the court.” He also added, “JPC is formed after a debate in Parliament, but the Congress is running away from a debate on the issue. Arun Jaitley asked for a debate on the floor of the House today itself.”
The Supreme Court’s decision has come after BJP’s defeat in the assembly elections in three states of the Hindi heartland. Responding to a question, the BJP chief, however, said that it is not about elections, “Congress should apologise for shaming the Indian defence and the soldiers who are working tirelessly in perilous situations.”
