A day after RJD leader Tej Pratap Yadav filed a petition for divorce before the Patna Civil Court, he lamented his failed married life with his wife, Aishwarya Rai. He lamented that he was a simpleton who was forced to marry the “urbane” Aishwarya Rai against his wishes and had been living a “stifled life” since then.
Tej Pratap, sitting MLA from Mahua constituency, filed a petition seeking divorce from his wife of six months citing incompatibility issues yesterday as stated by his lawyer. The separation was sought invoking Section 13 A of the Hindu Marriage Act under which either spouse can unilaterally seek divorce, said lawyer Yashwant Kumar Sharma, who filed the petition on behalf of Tej Pratap at a civil court in Patna. The matter has been listed for hearing on November 29. However, his lawyer refused to divulge further details stating, “I cannot give much details. I was only told by my client that he and his wife were not compatible and hence he wanted divorce.”
However, today Tej Pratap spoke frankly about how he had been forced to marry and also shared with sorrow, the fact that he has been living a stifled life. On a brief stopover to meet his incarcerated and ailing father, Lalu Prasad Yadav, he said, “I had told my parents that I did not wish to marry at this moment of time. But nobody listened to me. Ours was a mismatch. I am a simple man with simple habits while she is a modern woman, educated in Delhi and used to life in a metropolis.” Tej Pratap disclosed how he was having compatibility issues in putting up with an ‘urbane’ Aishwarya. When asked about this decision, Tej Pratap replied, “I have been living a stifled (ghut ghut ke) life. How long can I go like this?”
Sharing his hardships about his unsuccessful married life with the journalist, Tej Pratap projected himself as Lord Krishna and said that he is unable to find his Radha. He added that his wife Aishwarya Rai is not the Radha that he was looking for. And this is why he filed the divorce petition. He also added that he has not been on talking terms with his wife for the past two months.
It seems that disgruntled by his failed marriage, Tej Pratap Yadav has now decided to be a bachelor again.
