Wikileaks reveals, Kamalnath leaked classified information compromising national security

The Congress party and it’s leaders have a habit of compromising with national security. Latest name in the list is of Kamalnath as revealed by Wikileaks cable. He is a senior leader of the Congress, Madhya Pradesh Congress President and one of the most prominent Congress candidates for the post of CM. Last month, supporters of Kamalnath trended hashtag ‘Kamalnath Next MP CM’. According to a Wikileaks cable from the emergency era, the incumbent Congress Madhya Pradesh President, Kamalnath who was then in the inner circle of Sanjay Gandhi, had passed on classified, sensitive intel to US consul general, that India was in the process of building two more nuclear bombs and has plans for one more ‘Peaceful explosion’. Kamalnath had made the observation in the context of a discussion of India-US relations.

Kamalnath is not the only one from the Congress who has betrayed national security. As per the Wikileaks cable, “On February 11 Congress Party Chairwoman Sonia Gandhi traveled to the Northeast Indian state of Assam to inaugurate her party’s campaign for the May 2006 state assembly elections.” The Wikileaks cable further says, “In Assam the main opposition parties, the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), are weak and fragmented, but Congress has also lost support from the critical Muslim community.” Then comes the most shocking revelation from the Wikileaks cable, “In a brazen appeal to the Muslims, Gandhi offered to amend the Foreigners Act to prevent deportation of illegal Bangladeshi immigrants.”

The Wikileaks cable further reveals: “The Muslim vote is likely to determine whether Congress can retain its majority.  The Muslim community’s importance has been magnified by a steady influx of Bangladeshi immigrants and Muslims presently hold 13 Congress seats in the assembly.  Traditionally, Congress had been the party of choice for the Muslims as it protected illegal Bangladeshi migrants from deportation.  Congress also supported the Illegal Migrants Determination by Tribunals Act (IMDT) of 1983, applicable only in Assam, which made identification, detection and deportation of foreigners in Assam incredibly complex and protected post-1971 illegal Bangladeshi migrants.” The Wikileaks cable further says, “The Congress has tried to appease the Muslims by not enforcing the Foreigners Act and in her recent visit, Gandhi offered to amend the Act.  According to Assam Congress Spokesman Abdul Khaleque (protect), the amendment would effectively bring the IMDT provisions under the Foreigners Act and again create special exceptions and a tribunal for Assam.  Also on February 11, Gandhi visited Barpeta, which has a large concentration of Bangladeshi Muslims, and laid the foundation stone for a new medical college.”

It is a well known fact that illegal Bangladeshi immigrants pose a great security threat to India but the Congress party had allowed them to stay in India simply to get cheap political gains at the cost of threat to national security. Disregarding national security is in the DNA of the Congress and it does so just for the sake of poll politics.  The Gandhi scion Rahul Gandhi met Chinese envoy amidst an ongoing stand-off between Chinese and Indian forces at Doklam. Mani Shankar Aiyar went to Pakistan and asked for its help to remove PM Modi. The ongoing row over Rafale deal is enough to prove how much Congress party cares about national security. The Congress ecosystem is repeatedly spreading lies and fake news with respect to Rafale deal. As Piyush Goyal has rightly pointed out, “The series of lies on Rafale that are being spread by Mr Rahul Gandhi are before the nation and the world. They twisted a French media house’s report on Rafale, which the CEO of Dassault has himself said has been blatant twisting of facts.”

He listed and exposed all the lies spread by the Congress ecosystem including those by Rahul Gandhi.

The series of lies on Rafale that are being spread by Mr Rahul Gandhi are before the nation and the world. They twisted a French media house's report on Rafale, which the CEO of Dassault has himself said has been blatant twisting of facts: @PiyushGoyal #FakeNewsKingRahul

— Piyush Goyal Office (मोदी का परिवार) (@PiyushGoyalOffc) October 12, 2018

The second lie was on the Supreme Court judgement. The Supreme Court has refused to discuss finer details which are confidential in the interest of our national security and emphasized that pricing is not what they require: @PiyushGoyal #FakeNewsKingRahul

— Piyush Goyal Office (मोदी का परिवार) (@PiyushGoyalOffc) October 12, 2018

The 6th lie was in Parliament, where Rahul Gandhi said he personally met the French President about any pact of secrecy between France and India. This shows his hollowness of knowledge, that he doesn't even know this pact was done in 2008 by his own Govt: @PiyushGoyal

— Piyush Goyal Office (मोदी का परिवार) (@PiyushGoyalOffc) October 12, 2018

In the 7th lie, he talks of different prices of the basic aircraft and chooses to compare it with the price of a fully functional and equipped Fighter jet. It is not even comparing apples and oranges, but a seed with a full grown orchard: @PiyushGoyal #FakeNewsKingRahul

— Piyush Goyal Office (मोदी का परिवार) (@PiyushGoyalOffc) October 12, 2018

The fourth lie is about any quid-pro-quo between a particular company and the Govt. without any allegations. We have no say or view of what a private party decides or does business with: @PiyushGoyal #FakeNewsKingRahul

— Piyush Goyal Office (मोदी का परिवार) (@PiyushGoyalOffc) October 12, 2018

The 5th lie that the ex-French President called our Prime Minister a thief is the worst diplomatic gaffe that a senior political leader could do. It is shameful, that in their desperation, the principle opposition party chose to involve leaders of a friendly nation: @PiyushGoyal

It is time that the Congress President stops lying. One after another, his lies have been exposed. There is never a replacement for the truth, and the truth is in front of the nation :@PiyushGoyal #FakeNewsKingRahul

— Piyush Goyal Office (मोदी का परिवार) (@PiyushGoyalOffc) October 12, 2018

Rahul Gandhi is desperately trying to prove that Rafale deal is a scam but so far he has suffered an abject failure in his pursuit. However, his foolish acts are not good from the national security point of view. Neither is he concerned about national security nor was his father Rajiv Gandhi who lost power because of the Bofors scam which took place under his rule as his name too surfaced in the Bofors scam.

The country faced several internal security threats during the Congress led UPA rule. According to RVS Mani who was part of the Internal Security (IS) department during the UPA era, the UPA government compromised with national security for the sake of vote bank politics. The UPA era was marred with serial blasts and terrorist attacks, including the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks which shook the entire nation. The incident like 26/11 happened because the internal security officials were pressurized to mould the evidence to suit a political narrative. In his book ‘Hindu Terror’, RVS Mani writes that officers were under immense pressure as they had two conflicting choices, either to save their job or protect their country. In his book, he states that narratives which were promoted between the periods of 2004 to 2013 had the capacity to tear apart the social fabric of India. He backs his claim by providing official records, evidence, examples and incidents. Some shreds of evidence are known to the public and have been also reported in the media while some others are still unknown to the public. He has directly named several officials and politicians in the book and provided detailed insights into their workings. According to Mani, he has been targeted several times by his colleagues for not following immoral and unethical orders. He has also appreciated the good works of several officers who eliminated the enemies of the country like former IB officer Rajesh Kumar.

In the chapter titled “Seeding of Hindu terror”, he lays special emphasis on how UPA’s political leadership forced MHA officials to manufacture the fake narrative of Hindu Terror. In 2006, the first seed of Hindu terror was sown. According to Mani, “At a time when we had the best team in the IS division, the attitude of the government in power and intent to cover every terror incident as ‘saffron’ and the ambivalence in acting against the real perpetrators of the terror attacks was making this country a cannon fodder for those with evil designs against India”. He recalls an incident when the then Home Minister called him into his office to share information about terrorist attacks. Two more people were also present there, Digvijay Singh and former Maharashtra IPS Hemant Karkare. As he began to share information about the terrorist, the other two members who were present in the office were ‘sad’ because the most number of terrorist attacks were carried out by the members of only one particular religion.

He has written about Mumbai 26/11 attacks in great length and also named IAS, IPS officers and many big politicians and their lax attitude, he supports his claims with evidence and examples. When the investigation after the attack started, it was found that intelligence had already provided several credible inputs about the plot to carry out a terrorist attack on Mumbai but Ministry of Home Affairs did not pay any heed to those inputs.

Mani has dedicated an entire chapter to P Chidambaram, and how he brought about a non-existent Hindu terror narrative into existence. According to him, NIA under P. Chidambaram, “overlooked the first set of evidence and replaced it with the evidence supporting the Hindu terror narrative.” He also claimed that NIA officers who were involved in the investigation of terror cases have off the record accepted that there is no evidence of any sort of Hindu Terror. Mani has made many other shocking revelations in his book. In one such instance, when P Chidambaram was Home Minister, political quarters were against giving any hardcore evidence against Dawood Ibrahim to the United Nations. At last, he has also raised questions over UPA’s claim of surgical strike carried out under its rule. An RTI response also questioned Congress party’s claim about surgical strikes during the UPA Government.

This proves that the likes of Kamalnath, Rajiv Gandhi and others can be found aplenty in the Congress party. Leaders like Kamalnath who are still active in Indian politics and enjoy a prominent position in the party should be ashamed of their past acts.
