China is carrying out economic as well as practical colonization of Pakistan. What Britishers did to India, China is doing exactly the same thing with Pakistan. The Britishers in India created an elite class of English speaking educated Indian who provided intellectual and moral support to British rule in India. In the name of civilizing Indians, this English speaking educated elite defended all the acts of cruelty and brutality unleashed by their colonial masters- Britishers. Some sections of these English educated elites also participated in freedom movements but most of them were ardent supporter of British rule and their activities in India.
Now, coming back to Pakistan. The educated elites of Pakistan are displaying their colonial mentality. While various International organizations have repeatedly pointed unimaginable cruelty unleashed by China against Uyghur Muslims in Xinjiang province but Islamic nation Pakistan maintained a pin drop silence against all these atrocities. The conditions of Uyghur Muslims in the ‘re-education camps’ is even worse than animals. Recently, a Pakistani newspaper has defended these ‘re-education camps‘.
A newspaper called Pakistan Today has showered appreciation on Chinese Premier Xi-Jinping with respect to his policies in the Xinjiang region. The newspaper says, “President Xi Jinping has tackled the threat with a two pronged strategy i.e. deal with the terrorists with an iron fist, while eradicating the source of grievances by bringing prosperity, development and religious freedom to the Uyghurs and other minorities.” As far as religious freedom is concerned, Chinese authorities treat Islam as mental disease and also started many other camps. The Chinese authorities are constructing colonies in order to settle Han Chinese in the region in order to change the demography of Xinjiang. Stopping internet access in Xinjiang is a ritual. Sometimes Internet connection is cut off for around a year. What Beijing is doing in Xinjiang is a crime against humanity but a Pakistan which is on its way to become colony of China is appreciating and supporting all this.
The newspaper further says, “The central government, while taking steps to improve the quality of life of the Chinese minorities, providing them ample opportunities to receive education, etc, is also taking effective measures to protect the lives and property of people.” Time and again Chinese authorities have launched massive crackdown against the lives and properties of Ugyhur Muslims. Muslims of the region are prohibited from observing fast during Ramzan. Muslims are banned from naming their kids after the name of a particular person. Parents who are caught teaching their children about Islam are thrown in detention camps or their offspring are taken away. Chinese authorities are carrying out all sorts of possible atrocities against the Muslim subjects of the region.
