Senior actor and well renowned dramatist Nana Patekar has been hounded by some actors and actresses from the Bollywood circle after allegations from 10 years ago have been once again levied on him by former actress Tanushree Dutta. The brigade of Bollywood actors and actresses which include names such as Sonam Kapoor, Farhan Akhtar and others seem to have become convinced of Nana Patekar’s misconduct even when a single shred of evidence or proof is yet to be presented against him. The case which dates back to 10 years also includes the name of a known choreographer Ganesh Acharya, for the same charges which Nana Patekar faces. The allegations levied against Nana are silly to say the least, his only fault according to Tanushree Dutta is that he had forced her to dance, in front of 100s of people present at the venue. The support for Nana Patekar had come from many local leaders and bodies from Maharashtra and beyond. Nana after all is a helper of thousands of farmers and he is a well-respected figure in the state for the charitable work he does for the less fortunate section of the society.
It is for exactly these reasons that the self-proclaimed liberal wing of Bollywood wants to target Nana, their problems with him are numerous. Starting with his image as a down to earth person and one who is connected with his roots, the champagne downing Page 3 Bollywood gang has always treated him as an outsider. Wearing his Hindu and Maratha identity on his sleeve he has always put the nation ahead of himself. His support for the Indian Army and his tough words against anyone who tries to hurt the nation have always pricked the people who consider themselves elite. Nana also has the misfortune of not being a member of any political party, he is an insider of Mumbai but has always retained his outsider approach to Bollywood and its culture.
Nana Patekar is today being hounded by the liberal elites of Bollywood because he has been selflessly doing what they have preached but never taken the time out to do it on the ground. Tanushree Dutta might have had her own reasons for alleging sexual misconduct against Nana and Ganesh Acharya, but the liberal cabal has its own reasons to make a mountain out of a mole hill. Probably the most disturbing blame at Nana came from Mirror Now journalist Faye D’Souza who went on to compare him with Bill Cosby. Nana is someone against whom no charges had ever been raised before and there are no proofs to hold him guilty even in this one, Bill Cosby on the other hand is a convicted felon who has raped countless women after drugging them. It is journalists like Faye who conduct media trials in which they brand someone guilty on the basis of emotions and gender. This was apparent in the Jasleen Kaur vs Saravjeet case where the guy is still suffering due to the girl being hungry of fame and cheap publicity. Tanushree Dutta had a promising start in Bollywood which ended without a trace, Nana on the other hand has acted in countless movies with countless actresses from the same fraternity and his character record as of today is clean. None of Dutta’s senior or junior actresses have had a problem with him. Today when a baseless allegation is raised against him and the Bollywood liberal gang of Swara Bhasker, Sonam Kapoor and others try to frame Nana, he has done the right thing by approaching the court.

It is high time that emotions stop judging the criminals, countless cases have proved that charges of sexual misconduct are levied to suit personal goals. Not only do they destroy the career and reputation of many men but they also make victims look as perpetrators of crime. Swara, Sonam Kapoor and others who have taken a side without listening to what Nana and the proofs speak should be ashamed. A sexual misconduct case is for the courts to decide and to punish the guilty, Swara and the likes of her do not have the authority to label someone as criminal. The same goes for Twinkle Khanna, Farhan Akhtar, Sonam Kapoor and other so called liberals of the Bollywood fraternity.
