We at tfipost.com had earlier hinted towards a possible internal sabotage on the career of Rahul Gandhi from somebody who had close ties with the Congress president. As it turns out our convictions might be true after all, and the plot to sabotage his career was unravelled by none other than the National Students Union of India (NSUI), the student wing of Congress. The NSUI discovered that a member of Rahul Gandhi’s core team, Sandeep Singh, who was involved with him particularly in his speech writing process, had been an imposter. The issue came to light during the campaign phase for the fast approaching Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union which are scheduled to be held on September 7th. Sandeep Singh, a former All India Students Association (AISA) president of JNUSU (2207) had been actively campaigning for AISA currently, while he continued to work with Rahul Gandhi full time as his day job.

The discovery was made by NSUI leaders from the JNU campus who realized that Sandeep Singh by campaigning for AISA was hurting NSUI’s prospects in the JNUSU. A classic case of conflict of interest arose here where an employee of the core team of the Congress has still not let go of his old affiliations and continues to support the student’s wing of the Communist Party of India (ML). The situation had become so grim that NSUI General Secretary in charge of JNU, Sunny Mehta had to write directly to the All India Congress Committee (AICC) to let them know of Singh’s work inside the campus. His letter also included an appeal asking the party to instruct Sandeep Singh not to interfere in ‘campus politics’ as it was hurting the NSUI. The letter read, “Sandeep Singh former JNUSU President and AISA activist who is now a member of Rahul Gandhi’s team visits JNU campus and tells them that if they want to join the Congress then don’t be part of NSUI rather join the Left and raise yourself to the higher post in Congress Party. This demotivates our party members and activists and weakens our team in JNU.”
Sandeep Singh had been involved in working for the Congress president directly for over a year, ever since the Gujarat assembly elections according to the reports. His activities though as pointed out by the NSUI JNU leaders show that he was acting as a double agent and was weakening the Congress party both inside the JNU campus and by messing up the public image of Rahul Gandhi at the same time. This also solidifies our earlier doubts that someone really close to Rahul Gandhi seems to be misleading him at every point of time. Such a close relation can be maintained only by someone who has an unrestricted access to him and can steer his mind easily. Our beliefs that an undercover hit job on Rahul Gandhi seems to be underway and it has been ongoing since long, it is high time the Congress leaders recognise and weed out the people who have been making a mockery of their president while managing to stay behind the curtains. It is surprising how Congress allowed a member of the AISA to occupy a position so high up the ladder and that too without vetting him properly. Upon closer scrutiny some more members of the Rahul Gandhi core team could be found to be working against the interests of Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party itself. A bad sign for the longest surviving political party in the country indeed.
