The Congress party, once again, has been caught perpetuating lies. The Income Tax department on Sunday rubbished the fake news spread by the Congress party which claimed that records and documents associated to the investigation of Nirav Modi and Mehul Choksi case were destroyed in the Scindia House fire in the Income Tax Office in Mumbai. Taking to Twitter, this time the Income Tax department itself has exposed the hollowness of the claims of the Congress ecosystem.

In a rather convenient turn of events, a fire burned papers that the Income Tax Department had on Nirav Modi , the man who was photographed with PM Modi before he went on the run after pulling off the largest banking fraud in India. https://t.co/ps72fm9AFt

The Income Tax department clarified that such reports are completely false and without any factual basis. The Income Tax Department further clarified that the records/documents of ongoing investigation of Nirav Modi, Mehul Choksi case had already been transferred to assessment units housed in other buildings as part of assessment process. Apprehensions of loss/damage to records are entirely misplaced.

It is clarified that records/documents of ongoing investigation of Nirav Modi/ Mehul Choksi case had already been transferred to assessment units housed in other buildings as part of assessment process. Apprehensions of loss/damage to records(Scindia House,ITOffice fire)misplaced

News reports appearing in some sections of media alleging that records/documents relating to investigation of Nirav Modi/Mehul Choksi have been destroyed in the Scindia House fire in ITOffice,Mumbai are completely false & misdirected @PMOIndia @FinMinIndia @arunjaitley @adhia03

— Income Tax India (@IncomeTaxIndia) June 3, 2018

On Friday 1st June, a fire broke out in the Income Tax office in Mumbai. No causalities were reported in the mishap.

Mumbai: A Level-2 fire broke out inside an office at Scindia House (Commercial) near Income Tax office, Ballard estate. Five fire tenders present at the spot. No casualty reported. pic.twitter.com/o1SisBfFt1

— ANI (@ANI) June 1, 2018

However, the Congress ecosystem was quick to use this incident as an opportunity to spread lies. This is very insensitive and irresponsible behavior coming from the largest opposition party of India.

#NiravModi was allowed to run away from country after one of the biggest banking frauds country has seen. Now papers related to him with IT department have got burnt. https://t.co/6NPunBpOBU

— Ashok Gehlot (@ashokgehlot51) June 3, 2018

In a very platonic & totally unrelated turn of events, PM Modi's close associate & now absconding #NiravModi & #Choksi bhai's files have gutted in fire that suddenly broke out at income tax office in Mumbai on friday Blessing in disguise? #TadipaarJodidarhttps://t.co/cOI3UUnxkt

— Mumbai Congress (@INCMumbai) June 3, 2018

This is not the first time Congress has resorted to this sort of practice. Earlier also they had spread the fake news to malign the Modi government. Recently, Rahul Gandhi spread the fake news about defence corruption but like always it was also busted very quickly. The Defence Minister herself quashed this fake news. The Congress party also spread the fake news about a Dalit man being killed in Gujarat for keeping and riding a horse.

The BJP must hang its head in shame. Is this the "Gujarat Model" it boasts of?https://t.co/eiqQXjvZfV

— Congress (@INCIndia) March 31, 2018

However, the truth, which came out during police investigation, was completely different. The Police report stated that the youth was killed for harassing girls and not for keeping horse. The Police denied any sorts of caste angle in the incidence.

And very recently, during the high voltage drama which erupted after the Karnataka assembly elections where the Congress spread the fake news and presented a fake audio tape claiming that BJP leaders approached to the wife of Congress MLA Shivram Hebbar and offered RS 15 crore cash and a cabinet seat to her husband if he voted for BJP in the floor test. The Congress party leader Hebbar himself busted this fake news “I learnt about the audio tapes of the conversation purportedly between my wife and BJP leaders later when I was in the assembly. This is neither my wife’s voice nor has she received any call. I condemn whoever has released such audio clippings for political reasons. This is a fake audio tape…”

Facebook post of Congress MLA Shivram Hebbar from Yellapur, in which he denies his wife ever getting a call from BJP, calls it a fake audio clip… Shame on Congress for brazenly lying, spreading mis-information and media channels for lapping it up. It is all over regional paper. pic.twitter.com/ZoIUqhgXWi

— Amit Malviya (मोदी का परिवार) (@amitmalviya) May 20, 2018

Not just Congress, some media houses were also involved in spreading this fake news without verification. Some media houses even speculated that files related to Vijay Mallya are also destroyed in the fire.  The desperation of media to link the current BJP regime to any scandal is reaching to new levels. Media is not reporting reality, they are just filtering and shaping it according to their agenda.

Files on Nirav Modi and his uncle Mehul Choksi apart from several others wanted for economic offences have been destroyed in a major fire at the premises of the Income Tax department on Friday, according to sources here.https://t.co/ZPTOEUKOiD via @thetribunechd

— Cobrapost (@cobrapost) June 3, 2018

(PC: OpIndia)
(PC: OpIndia)

There are many other notorious personalities who indulged in this fake news peddling.

Oh my God! Fire In Mumbai's IT Department Building, Files Of Nirav Modi, Choksi & Mallya Feared Gutted. First they are allowed to escape. Then they get rid of CBI offr investigating this. Now this fire to get rid of the documents. How brazen can they get!https://t.co/g6iQZa3XJB

— Prashant Bhushan (@pbhushan1) June 3, 2018

Despite of all the 'Digital India' façade, little seems to have changed inside government offices.

In this fire documents related to #NeeravModi were destroyed.#SlowClaps https://t.co/JJSVGgLkGk

— Ankit Lal 🏹 (@AnkitLal) June 2, 2018

The Country is in extreme need of strict laws related to fake news otherwise these culprits will keep on spreading fake news again and again. One day, this might turn out to be very harmful for the country.
