Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh lambasted Rahul Gandhi for raising question over the development works in the state. Rahul Gandhi had earlier criticized the state government for the lack of development in Chhattisgarh. CM Raman Singh responded to this allegation of Rahul Gandhi by challenging him to do even half of the development work for his Amethi constituency. CM Raman Singh, while addressing a public rally during his Vikas Yatra, said that, “Congress is saying that no development has happened in Chhattisgarh. There are concrete roads in the rural areas. What more they want? They just want to oppose. I want to tell Rahul Gandhi, if you can do half of this development in Amethi, I’ll be happy with it.”
Raman Singh also recounted the development projects initiated and completed by his government. He revolutionized agriculture, built a new world class capital, improved healthcare access, literacy rate has climbed up, AIIMS was inaugurated in Raipur, started new education institutions/colleges and has set up plants of renewable source of energy. The government has performed well on many parameters. Chhattisgarh is one of the fastest developing states of India.
Last month, Rahul Gandhi had launched his election campaign in Chhattisgarh. During an election rally, Rahul Gandhi targeted the state government. Rahul Gandhi alleged that, “The government claims that it works on the road. 32 people were killed (by the Maoists) on the road. Where was the government? The senior-most leader in the opposition was murdered, where was the government? When they can’t protect political leaders, how can they protect adivasis and common people? How can such a government work for your progress?”
In return, Raman Singh has shown the mirror to Rahul Gandhi. It would be interesting whether he is going to accept the challenge or not. Last time when Rahul Gandhi challenged PM Modi and in return, PM Modi threw a counter-challenge to Rahul, he went on to silent mode and employed his troll army to counter PM Modi.
After getting such a powerful retort by CM Raman Singh, next time Rahul Gandhi would think twice before making ignorant remarks about the development of the state.
This gives a glimpse of BJP’s election strategy in the state as well as during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. The BJP might simply compare the development works done by its government with the development work of Rahul Gandhi who has hardly done anything for his Amethi constituency. This will also show Rahul Gandhi his right place. A person cannot develop his constituency despite being the MP from the same constituency for 14 years now, of which 10 were under the UPA, how he would develop India? Amethi is one of the most backward constituencies in the country and an example of Rahul’s incompetency and lack of vision. The BJP will bring the destitute condition of Amethi to people’s notice again and again in 2019. The BJP would try its level best to make 2019 General elections a direct showdown between PM Modi and Rahul Gandhi which is the BJP’s tried and tested winning formula.
