The newly elected Tripura Chief Minister, Biplab Deb has begun a massicve crackdown on illegal immigrants in the state. The first non communist Chief Minister in Tripura has achieved a huge success, as far as restraining the inflow of illegal immigrants is concerned.
As per latest report, 24 Bangladeshi illegal immigrants believed to be having terror links, have been arrested from the Agartala railway station this Thursday. All the immigrants were carrying fake Aadhaar cards and it is being said that the National Investigation Agency (NIA) team is going to interrogate them. Superintendent of police Abhijit Chowdhury stated that the illegal immigrants were apprehended by the Mobile Task Force (MTF) personnel, as they raided the railway station acting on a tip-off. It has been reported that all of them were carrying fake Aadhaar cards showing they were issued from West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. When the Adhaar were checked online they were fake ID’s. It has come to light that fake identity cards were issued to some of these immigrants from different madrasas across India. DGP further added that “none of them were carrying any valid passports. Three of them were carrying Bangladeshi passports but they have expired long back”. The possibility of these immigrants being linked to terror outfits has not been ruled out and various central and state intelligence agencies have been asked to interrogate them.
This shows that the Biplab Deb ruled government in Tripura has launched a monumental assault against illegal immigrants in the state. It must be noted that the crime branch has been set up for the first time in Tripua under the Biplab government. The crime branch is set to deal exclusively with anti social elements including the illegal immigrants and the Rohingya terrorists. This speaks volumes of the efforts made by Chief Minister Biplab Deb to drive out the Bangladeshi immigrants from the state.
This is indicative of the fact that Biplab government has resolved to provide high quality governance to Tripura and security to its citizens against rampant immigration. He has also undone a lot of damage, done by the outgoing communist government which overemphasizes on the Marxist ideology and Mao (Zedong). Biplab Deb has announced the decision by his government to implement the NCERT syllabus across the state run schools in Tripura.
While media has been targeting Biplab Deb for his public statements, they have found it convenient to turn a blind eye towards all the impressive work that he has carried out. It is not in dispute that Tripura chief minister Biplab Deb is prone to making some overexcited public statements and some of his statements that came under media criticism were actually naïve. However, the mainstream media has also been guilty of trying deliberately to spin off some of the statements made by chief minister Biplab Deb. They have been trying to make a mountain of a molehill. Notwithstanding, the extensive media propaganda Biplab Deb is here to stay and set to take Tripura to new highs.
