Congress general secretary Manish Tewari apologized for using objectionable words against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. However, he has also questioned whether PM Modi will unfollow those people who abuse and resort to uncivil language on Twitter. Manish Tewari tweeted several tweets in his defense on Sunday.

Manish Tewari shared a video about PM Modi, in which he is seen walking during the national anthem. On this video of Tiwari, a person named Deepak Kumar Singh replied that you cannot teach Modi patriotism, Tiwari posted an objectionable tweet in retaliation. Tiwari tweeted, ” इसे कहते हैं चू#$% को भक्त बनाना और भक्तों को पर्मानेंट चू#$% बनाना- जय हो (This is called making a fan out of a bloodyfool and a bloodyfool out of a fan). Manish Tewari faced a lot of criticism due to his tweet. The BJP objected strongly to it and alleged that it was being done on the orders of Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi. At the same time, BJP suggested Congress leaders should undergo Mental Treatment.
Cornered from all quarters, Manish Tewari offered an apologizing on this tweet, He tweeted, “I shared a video in which the PM was running while the national anthem was played.” Someone answered on this. ‘You do not teach Modi patriotism. Even Mahatma Gandhi cannot teach him that. Hence, I Tweeted a Hindi slang used in colloquial terms as derision. I did not mean to humiliate the PM or the Mahatma. ‘

Manish Tewari tweeted further, “There is no reference to them in my original tweet. The World for which I am being attacked is used colloquially to denote a stupid person, especially those who keep the PM above the Mahatma.’

This apology neither makes sense, nor is it a proper apology. First of all, Manish Tewari denied disrespecting PM Modi while his tweet was all about PM Modi and his fans which he derides as CH^&A. Secondly, he justifies the use of a word and terms it as “colloquial” while the reality is that the word under discussion is an abusive word. Can Mr. Tewari use it formally, say in news debates or as the National Spokesperson of Congress Party? Because if it is a harmless Colloquial Word, there shouldn’t be any issue, after all we are a nation of mixed languages, vocabs and dialects?
