Ayush Ministry Case: Fake Story, Fake Activism, Real Punishment

While everyone was discussing about degree of Narendra Modi and his comparison of Kerala with Somalia and all other things including whether ‘Mummy and  Didi Returns’ will release or not, Delhi Police had arrested one Pushpa Sharma, a journalist in the Ayush Ministry case.

First I thought why Delhi Police arrested a lady arrested, despite their frequent altercations with the DCW and burning their hands. I was wrong. Pushpa, indeed was a male. I understood why DCW had not intervened.

And neither any Sanghi organisation claimed that the arrest was wrong, as normally such privileges are not accorded to someone belonging to majority.

Even Ravish Kumar failed to take out a march protesting the killing of journalists in Bihar and Jharkhand, as he did when one Delhi journalist was beaten in Delhi. Maybe lives of Biharis are cheap as per ‘Press’ rules. Even for Ravish Kumar it might have appeared inappropriate to protest the Pushpa Sharma’s arrest, when he ignored two killings of his colleagues. Anyway, the PRESS knows better where to ‘PRESS’, when to ‘PRESS’, how to ‘PRESS’ and whom they should ‘PRESS’.

Pushpa Sharma was the guy who declared that Modi government ( AYUSH ), as a policy – do not recruit Muslims for the position of “Yoga trainers”. His “investigative report” was published in “The Milli Gazette”, a newspaper that calls itself as “Indian Muslim’s Leading Newspaper” ( I really feel this exaggeration had only parallels with those leaders who declare themselves – Hindu Hriday Samrat!). Mr Sharma filed inquiry in September 2015 and got a reply in October 2015. In only one month! I am wondered. But, it appears that Pushpa Sharma was hatching on the reply, for he waited six long months before publishing his findings, as the news was published in “The Milli Gazette” only in the month of March, 2016.

TMG even published scan copies of the government’s reply wherein it was stated, “As per Government’s policy – No Muslim candidate was invited, selected or sent abroad”.

There was an uproar against the fascist and nationalist government of India, under Modi. AYUSH denied the allegations that were rejected by Sharma. As the government denied giving such an RTI reply, Press Council of India, had taken suo moto cognizance and filed a case against Sharma. Meanwhile Milli Gazette was increasing its readers.

Sharma was interrogated and he promptly put in his next post that Police are more worried about one sentence in his report: After two months of investigation, Delhi Police arrested him for fabricating annexures he attached with the original reply given by AYUSH. Too much for a propagandist. He should have tried to bribe the government official and get something more authentic! Of course, he would do it next time.

Where Milli gazette stands now or what is their stand? Quoting verbatim:

“Dr Zafarul-Islam Khan, chief editor of the Milli Gazette said the Ayush Ministry FIR against the journalist and the Press Council of India’s suo moto action are clear attempts to stifle the freedom of the press. He said, while the Ayush Ministry was quick to file a complaint with the police, it failed to make any contact in any manner with the news magazine. Moreover, the PCI, instead of protecting journalists and media publications, seems to be taking the side of the government.”

One thing I couldn’t understand was what was the stand of Dr Zafarul-Islam Khan on the validity of the fatwa declaring “Yoga is Haram for Muslims”. If it is Haram, no one expects the type of Muslims who follow Dr Khan to practice Yoga and would like to become trainers. Yes, there are many Muslims, who are the mainstream ones, who practice Yoga and offer Namaz five times a day. But, the type of political parasites who thrive on “creating and widening” gaps between various communities have the audacity of declaring Yoga haram and then cry for not being selected! All I know, who had to grind through the hard and cruel system of education and employment is – “If you are rejected, prepare better for next time”. Leaving it aside, if all rejected candidates start making allegations that they were discriminated, system would collapse in few days. Someone from my colony who appeared for UPSC can claim that no one from our colony was selected, only because we were discriminated.

However, I have a suggestion. Last time I was in Kerala, I saw a poster by the Church where in it was claimed that Yoga was created by Jesus, with twelve poses. And they have name for each pose, relating with Christ. I don’t know how the Christians in Rome and Munich feel about someone interlinking a ‘Pagan invention’ like Yoga to the real religion. Dr Khan also should try something similar here, by utilising his investigative journalist, who happens to be so ‘inventive’. One better idea may be opening an institute to train Muslims in Yoga to become trainers. For themselves, many Muslims do practice it, irrespective of the religion and fatwas.

I also would like to know the stand of Dr Khan to investigate why Hamdard employs only Muslims, for I was informed so. The duo of Pushpa Sharma and Dr Khan can find out the reason and correct things, if needed.

Funny it may sound, practitioners of all religions break rules when it comes to smoking, drinking, debauching and looting. May be that is the reason why religions are considered pious – as they are supposed to deal with only pious things.

One thing Dr Khan should know that though Christianity existed in India, immediately after crucification of Jesus, nearly till the time Europeans started controlling India, they were not persecuted but allowed by all Hindu rulers, even in the middle ages, when the beloved west was busy in crusading one another. And only when people started believing that the British may be going, there was the fear of ‘Hindu domination’ by aristocratic Muslims, for they feared their past sins may catch up.

It is time to stop playing the minority card for everything. It may not be out of context if I mention the fact that in Muslim countries, normally minorities are not allowed to exist! So, if you can, preach good things, else shut the ugly mouth by inserting your own foot.
