Security forces killed one terrorist in an encounter in the Ashdar Gali area of Budgam district in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday, the Army said.

A spokesman for the Srinagar-based Chinar Corps said the joint operation was launched by the Indian Army, the Jammu and Kashmir Police, and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) after specific intelligence inputs pointed to the presence of terrorists in the area.

According to the spokesman, troops noticed suspicious activity in the area and moved in to conduct a search. During the search, a hiding terrorist opened fire on the security forces, triggering a gunfight.

“One terrorist was neutralised in the operation,” the spokesman said, adding that an AK rifle and other war-like stores were recovered from the encounter site.
