The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday unveiled a sweeping reshuffle of its national organisational team under party president Nitin Nabin, in his first major overhaul since taking charge. The new line-up brings several senior leaders back into prominent roles while dropping a number of long-serving office bearers, and includes a significant change in the party’s digital and communication apparatus.
Smriti Irani Returns, Ram Madhav Back in the Fold
Among the most closely watched appointments is that of former Union Minister Smriti Irani, who has been named a national general secretary — marking her return to a key organisational post after being dropped from the Union Cabinet following her 2024 Lok Sabha defeat from Amethi.
Equally notable is the comeback of Ram Madhav, a former national general secretary known for his work on the party’s foreign policy and northeast strategy, who has been appointed a national vice president. Madhav joins a 13-member vice-presidential team that also includes former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje Scindia and former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat, both of whom return to prominent organisational roles.
The Full Vice-Presidential Line-up
The 13 national vice presidents named are: Vasundhara Raje Scindia, Tirath Singh Rawat, Ram Madhav, Baijayant Jay Panda, D Purandeswari, Rekha Verma, Varshaben Narendrabhai Doshi, Bharti Pravin Pawar, Manpreet Singh Badal, Lal Singh Arya, M Nagaraja, Tariq Mansoor and Madhuchandra Kar. Of these, Raje, Panda, Verma and Mansoor have been retained from the previous team, while the rest are fresh entrants to the post.
Several prominent leaders have been dropped from the vice-presidential ranks, including Saudan Singh, Saroj Pandey, DK Aruna, M Chuba Ao, Abdulla Kutty, Laxmikant Bajpai and Lata Usendi.
Eight General Secretaries, Including Irani and Biplab Deb
Alongside Irani, the party has named Vinod Tawde, Sunil Bansal, former Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, Satish Poonia, Gajendra Patel, Harish Dwivedi and Sanjay Bhatia as national general secretaries. B L Santhosh has been retained as National General Secretary (Organisation), with Shivprakash and Saudan Singh appointed as national joint general secretaries (organisation).
Dropped from the general secretary list are Arun Singh, Dushyant Kumar Gautam, Tarun Chugh (in his general secretary capacity) and Radha Mohan Das Agarwal.
Amit Malviya Replaced as IT Cell Chief
In one of the more significant shifts, Amit Malviya has been removed as head of the BJP’s IT Cell, a post he had held for years and used to build the party’s digital and social media strategy. He will be replaced by Deepak Mhaskey from Chhattisgarh. Anil Baluni continues in his role as the party’s media in-charge.
Other Key Appointments
Union Minister Piyush Goyal has been appointed national treasurer, with Rajesh Mangal as joint treasurer. Tarun Chugh will now serve as central office in-charge, with Mahendra Pandey as central office secretary. Dr Sambit Patra has been named North-East coordinator, assisted by Rajeev Babbar, while Vishnu Dutt Sharma will coordinate the party’s various cells with Rituraj Sinha and Vishnu Vardhan Reddy as joint coordinators.
The party also named 16 national secretaries, including K Surendran and Anil Antony — both of whom joined the BJP after leaving other parties, Surendran as former Kerala BJP president and Antony, son of veteran Congress leader A K Antony, having joined in 2023. The full list of secretaries includes Kavita Patidar, Bhola Singh, Pradip Varma, Phangnon Konyak, Sandeep Pathak, Manoj Tigga and others drawn from across the country.
Morcha (wing) presidents were also announced: Dr Hemang Joshi (Yuva Morcha), Roop Kumari Choudhary (Mahila Morcha), Amarpal Maurya (OBC Morcha), Bansilal Gurjar (Kisan Morcha), Shivesh Kumar Ram (SC Morcha), Dr Mannalal Rawat (ST Morcha) and Kunwar Basit Ali (Minority Morcha).
The reshuffle marks Nitin Nabin’s first major restructuring of the BJP’s central organisation since assuming the party presidency on January 20, 2026. Announcing the changes, Nabin congratulated the newly appointed office bearers, saying the team would provide fresh momentum to the party’s work under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The appointments have taken effect with immediate effect, according to a party press release.
