The Union Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has assured the public that India has adequate crude oil supplies and that petrol pumps across the country are operating normally, rejecting rumours about any possible shortage of fuel.
In a statement, the ministry clarified that crude oil is available in sufficient quantities and that the country’s fuel supply chain remains stable. Petrol and diesel continue to be supplied regularly to retail outlets, ensuring that consumers are not facing any disruption in availability.
The government urged citizens not to believe unverified claims circulating about fuel shortages and stressed that the situation remains under control.
Government reassures public on fuel availability
The clarification comes amid speculation in certain quarters regarding potential disruptions in fuel supply. The ministry said such concerns are unfounded and emphasised that India’s petroleum supply system is functioning smoothly.
Officials stated that adequate crude stocks are available to meet the country’s current energy requirements. Fuel distribution networks are operating normally, ensuring that petrol and diesel continue to reach pumps without interruption.
The ministry also noted that authorities are closely monitoring the situation and remain committed to ensuring stable fuel supplies across the country.
Supply chain operating without disruption
According to the government, the country’s fuel infrastructure, including refining and distribution operations, is functioning efficiently. Petrol pumps across India are continuing to serve consumers as usual, with no reported disruptions in supply.
Officials reiterated that the existing stock levels are sufficient to meet demand and that there is no shortage of petroleum products.

Citizens urged not to panic
Alongside its assurance, the government appealed to citizens not to engage in panic buying or hoarding of fuel. Officials warned that such behaviour could place unnecessary pressure on supply systems even when stocks are adequate.
Consumers were advised to rely only on official information regarding fuel availability and to avoid spreading rumours.
