Congress’s Desperation Exposed Amid US Tariffs: Rahul Gandhi Speaks in Donald Trump’s Language

Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi has aligned himself with former U.S. President Donald Trump, declaring India’s economy "dead" in front of national media

Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi Joins Global Anti-India Chorus

Rahul Gandhi Uses Trump’s Script to Attack India

In a shocking display of political opportunism, Congress MP and Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi has aligned himself with former U.S. President Donald Trump, declaring India’s economy “dead” in front of national media. These comments, mirroring Trump’s harsh rhetoric against India, have drawn sharp criticism from across the political spectrum and sparked outrage among economists, strategists, and even coalition allies of the Congress party.

While Trump announced a 25% tariff on Indian imports, claiming India and Russia had “dead economies,” the expectation from Indian political leadership was to counter the allegation and defend national interest. Instead, Rahul Gandhi chose to parrot Trump’s anti-India narrative.

Rahul’s Double Standards: Accuses Modi of Submissiveness, Then Agrees with Trump

Just days ago, Rahul Gandhi was lambasting Prime Minister Narendra Modi for allegedly not responding strongly to Trump’s comments or pushing back on America’s tariff threats. He accused the Modi government of being too soft, saying it failed to even name Trump in Parliament. But when Trump delivered his most scathing attack yet falsely branding India’s economy as “dead” Rahul Gandhi astonishingly endorsed the statement.

“Yes, he is right. Everybody knows this except the PM and Finance Minister,” Gandhi told reporters. “The BJP has finished the economy to help Adani.”

Instead of defending India’s economic resilience or highlighting India’s recent achievements—including its position among the top five fastest-growing economies globally Gandhi echoed a foreign leader’s derogatory assessment. This, many believe, is an insult to every hardworking Indian contributing to the nation’s economic recovery post-pandemic.

Rahul Gandhi Ignores Malegaon Verdict, Saffron Terror Narrative Collapses

Adding fuel to the fire, when asked to comment on the acquittal of all accused in the Malegaon blast case—a case that the Congress party itself had aggressively pushed under the label of “saffron terror” Rahul Gandhi dodged the question. Despite repeated queries from the press, he offered no apology or clarification.

This silence comes across as an evasion of accountability. For years, Congress targeted the RSS and Hindu groups under a narrative that has now crumbled with the NIA court ruling. Yet, rather than acknowledge the legal outcome or express regret over the party’s mischaracterization, Rahul Gandhi chose to deflect.

Trump Tariffs and India’s Strong Economic Diplomacy

Contrary to Rahul Gandhi’s alarmist rhetoric, India has held its ground diplomatically and economically. The Modi government refused to compromise on core issues like opening India’s dairy market, which Trump had demanded. These dairy protections are critical for rural livelihoods and were rightly maintained.

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar clarified that India remains committed to a fair trade partnership, but not at the cost of its farmers and small industries. Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal assured that all necessary steps are being taken to protect Indian interests, indicating a mature, measured, and assertive approach.

India continues to be the fastest-growing major economy, ranks fourth globally by GDP, and is on the cusp of becoming the world’s largest workforce hub. These facts speak for themselves and make a mockery of the “dead economy” label.

Congress vs India: Party Leaders Contradict Rahul Gandhi

Ironically, members from Rahul’s own party and allies within the opposition disagreed with his assessment. Congress MP Manish Tewari and senior leader Shashi Tharoor both acknowledged the Modi government’s firm stand against unjust trade deals. Even Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi, whose party is aligned with Congress, said, “India is among the top 5 global economies. Calling it a dead economy comes from arrogance or ignorance.”

National spokesperson of the BJP, Charu Pragya, went a step further, saying, “Trump might be a petulant child, but it’s unfortunate this LoP is even worse. What right do you have to be in Parliament if you can’t put India first?”

These reactions highlight an uncomfortable truth: while India’s political class is united in protecting the nation’s interests, Rahul Gandhi continues to find himself isolated, sounding more like a critic of India than a member of its leadership.

Congress Silencing Voices That Support National Interest

Another glaring episode pointing to the Congress party’s hypocrisy is their silencing of voices like Manish Tewari. Tewari, who supported India’s strategic autonomy and economic resistance against Trump’s bullying, was reportedly not allowed to speak during the Operation Sindoor debate in Parliament.

This exposes a deeper problem within the Congress: leaders who support the nation and offer constructive criticism or alignment with the government on national interest issues are being sidelined. Whether it’s defence, economy, or foreign policy, Congress appears more invested in opposing Modi than supporting India.

Amit Malviya Slams Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Dead Economy’ Remark, Calls It an Insult to 140 Crore Indians

BJP IT Cell chief Amit Malviya took to X and hit out at Rahul Gandhi for branding India a “dead economy,” calling it a disgraceful insult to the aspirations of every Indian. “The only thing truly dead is Rahul Gandhi’s political credibility,” Malviya posted. Citing IMF and World Bank projections and surging indicators like steel, cement, tractor production, and port cargo, he added, “India is the world’s fastest-growing major economy.” Malviya accused Rahul of echoing foreign propaganda and undermining India’s progress, saying, “New India believes in itself — even if Rahul Gandhi never will.”

India First, Always – But Not for Congress

At a time when India is navigating complex global challenges—from Western tariffs to geopolitical realignments—what the nation needs is unity and responsible leadership. Instead, Rahul Gandhi chose to side with a foreign leader’s insult and undermine the credibility of his own country.

His repeated references to Adani, his silence on Malegaon acquittals, and his refusal to acknowledge India’s economic resilience demonstrate a troubling pattern: Rahul Gandhi is more comfortable attacking India than defending it. While the Modi government continues to steer India through turbulent waters with strength and clarity, the Congress party appears rudderless, reactive, and increasingly anti-India in its stance.

It’s time for the opposition to rise above petty politics and back the country when national interests are at stake. Anything less is not just bad politics—it’s a betrayal of the people they claim to represent.
