Ayodhya witnessed a spiritually uplifting event on Thursday as the consecration (Pran Pratishtha) of the Ram Darbar and other deities came to a close at the Ram Janmabhoomi complex. The ceremony, which spanned three days, culminated on the occasion of Ganga Dussehra, drawing thousands of devotees, saints, and Vedic scholars from across India and abroad.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who was present for the final day, participated in the sacred rituals and sought blessings from Lord Ram—coinciding with his birthday, adding a personal touch to the ceremony.
The rituals began at sunrise with worship at the Yagya Mandap, followed by a havan. The standout moment of the event was the seamless blend of ancient Vedic practices and modern technology, which allowed multiple shrines within the complex to be connected and synchronized for the Pran Pratishtha.
Among the deities consecrated were Shri Ram Darbar, Lord Shiva, Sheshavatar, Ganesh, Hanuman, Surya Dev, Maa Bhagwati, and Annapurna Mata, each installed at designated corners of the temple premises in accordance with traditional principles.
The event concluded with a grand Aarti and a Bhandara (community meal), fostering a sense of unity and devotion among the attendees.
The day also marked the Trayodashi Janmotsav of the sacred Saryu River, further elevating the spiritual significance of the occasion.
Several spiritual leaders praised Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for his efforts to restore Ayodhya’s ancient heritage and transform it into a global spiritual hub. Over the last eight years, the city has seen a major infrastructural overhaul, with projects worth ₹32,000 crore enhancing roads, transport, tourism, and public spaces like the Saryu riverfront and Ram Katha Park.
To ensure the safety of devotees, authorities implemented strict multi-layered security measures. Teams from ATS, CRPF, PAC, and local police were deployed, and the temple complex was monitored using advanced surveillance systems.
Ayodhya’s transformation—from a historic pilgrimage town to a world-class spiritual destination—was on full display, leaving both devotees and dignitaries moved by the scale and sanctity of the event.
What Is Pran Pratishtha?
Pran Pratishtha is a key Hindu ritual that literally means “establishing the life force” in an idol. It is the point at which the murti (idol) is spiritually transformed from an artistic representation into a divine embodiment of the deity. This ritual is performed with detailed Vedic chants, fire offerings (homa), and temple purification rites, making the temple not just a physical space, but a spiritual power center.
While the January 2024 event in Ayodhya consecrated the main sanctum (garbhagriha) of the temple housing Ram Lalla, the second phase, underway in June 2025, extends sanctification to:
Eight additional shrines within the complex, dedicated to deities like Sita, Hanuman, Lakshman, Shiva, and others.
Symbolic unification of various Hindu traditions—Vaishnav, Shaiva, Shakta, tribal, and Bhakti sects—reflecting the temple’s pan-Hindu spiritual inclusiveness.
Completion of ritual and architectural purification of the entire temple as per Agama Shastras (Hindu temple-building texts).
