Bhajan singer Shahnaz Akhtar has lamented that ever since she embraced the folds of Sanatan Dharma and started singing bhajans, she along with her family members have been enduring attacks from Islamic fundamentalists.
According to her, Islamic fundamentalists attacked her house and assaulted her for singing bhajans because of which the Bhajan Singer and her family members were hospitalized for 4 days. She added that nobody came forward to help them when her family members were suffering from hunger and thirst in the hospital.
Who is Shahnaz Akhtar?
Shahnaz Akhtar was born in a Muslim family in Barghat, Seoni district of Madhya Pradesh. During her childhood days, she used to visit Lord Ganesha temple to get prasad. Subsequently, changes started reflecting in her life and when she was 10 years old, she started singing bhajans and adopted Sanatan Dharma.
Currently, ‘Banda Mahotsav’ is being organized in Banda, Uttar Pradesh where the Bhajan singer mesmerized the audience with her melodious bhajans.
Afterwards, she narrated her ordeal of enduring Islamist attacks stating, “I belong to Sanatan Dharma. I sing bhajans of Hindu deities and worship them. But for this, my family and I had to suffer a lot.”
She added that when she adopted Sanatan Dharma and started singing bhajans, she faced strong opposition from Islamists. She and her family faced multiple threats. The situation worsened to such an extent that her house was attacked and her family members were brutally assaulted.
She said, “We stayed in the hospital for four days. We kept suffering from hunger and thirst, but no one helped.”
Shahnaz further stated that many Muslims threatened her and her family, taunting that she would go to hell for singing bhajans of Hindu deities. But she did not pay attention to it.
Slamming Islamists, Shehnaaz said, “If I can go to hell because of my devotion to Hinduism, then what heaven has your father presented to me.”
She added, “I have been dyed in saffron colour. Sanatan Dharma is my identity.”
Pertinent to note that Shehnaaz has to endure social media trolling on a daily basis. Recently, a reel also went viral in which an attempt was made to defame her. She has also filed an FIR against it.
Shehnaaz noted, “I did not change my name because my personality has been shaped by Sanatan Dharma. I will take legal action against those who trouble me.”
