A film chronicling the life of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has been officially announced. Titled ‘Ajey – The Untold Story of a Yogi,’ the movie is inspired by Shantanu Gupta’s book, ‘The Monk Who Became Chief Minister’. Along with the announcement, a motion poster was unveiled, offering a glimpse into the film’s theme and the spiritual and political journey of Yogi Adityanath.
The motion poster features actor Anant Joshi in the role of Yogi Adityanath, depicting his renunciation of the world to serve the people. Veteran actor Paresh Rawal’s voice narrates in the background, saying, “Vo kuch nahi chahta tha, sab usko chahte the. Janta ne usko sarkar bana diya”, which translates to, “He wished for nothing, yet everyone loved him. The people made him their leader.” The film’s title is largely inspired by Yogi Adityanath’s birth name, Ajay Singh Bisht.

Directed by Ravindra Gautam, who is known for his work in Maharani 2, the film features a star-studded cast including Dinesh Lal Yadav ‘Nirahua’, Pawan Malhotra, Ajay Mengi, Rajesh Khattar, Garima Vikrant Singh, and Sarwar Ahuja. The film is being produced by Ritu Mengi under Samrat Cinematics, with music composed by Meet Bros and writing by Dilip Bachchan Jha and Priyank Dubey. The cinematography is handled by Vishnu Rao, while Uday Prakash Singh serves as the production designer.
Speaking about the film, director Ravindra Gautam shared that the story is incredibly inspiring, especially for the youth. It portrays the journey of a middle-class boy from a remote village in Uttarakhand who went on to become the Chief Minister of India’s most populous state. According to Gautam, the film highlights determination, selflessness, faith, and leadership, offering audiences a dramatic yet inspiring story.
The biopic aims to present Yogi Adityanath’s life in a compelling manner, showcasing the challenges, struggles, and key events that shaped his journey. It explores his early life, his decision to become a Nathpanthi Yogi, and his rise as a powerful political leader. The makers of the film have assured that it will include a mix of drama, action, emotion, and sacrifice to engage the audience.
Scheduled for a 2025 theatrical release, Ajey – The Untold Story of a Yogi will be released in multiple languages, including Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam. Producer Ritu Mengi emphasized that Yogi Adityanath’s life is full of challenges, resilience, and transformation, making it a story worth telling on the big screen. She further added that the film presents his journey in an engaging and dramatic way, bringing to life the events that shaped him.
